Edit: I don't know why it won't show my pictures!!!!!!!! And it messed up some of the text when I copied/pasted it too. Don't know what's going on.

@lordtyger9 I tried to post an image in the OP but it doesn't look like it embedded properly. I'll try again because I have since made another post with more updates!

Post from the OP::::::

RIO ISLA — WIP

So I’ve decided to try my hand at building a ‘hood from scratch again since my game stopped starting and I did a hard reset about a week ago. I lost all the lots and neighborhoods I posted about on my Leefish account, so I really do have to start all over again. Fortunately all my custom content is back for the most part except for some really-long-winded files by the MTS creator Michelle..Really wish those file titles weren’t so damned long, but it is what it is. Whatever I’m missing will have to be re-downloaded. Anyway these are the plans I came up with for the small terrain I downloaded earlier today:

It’s a bit small, but I hope you can still make that out. It’s cluttered and very tight, so things may change in the coming weeks/months it takes me to build this thing, but it will work out. I kind of threw the graveyard in there at the last minute because I didn’t want a huge chunk of land near a rode just empty. The spaces with the Xs near theme are a code for me to remember that I want plant life to fill those small areas if possible.

I originally wanted to build Rio Isla on this Maxis pre-made neighborhood, but I decided that was much too big!

I’m very fond of small terrains and even tried creating a few myself when I had SimCity 4, but that proved a little tricky. What is small in SC4 is quite HUGE in TS2! Maybe I will try my hand at it again some day soon? For now I will rely on SC4 terrains already on the net.

This particular terrain I am using is called Tiny Isle from MTS creator sedgez. It was uploaded in 2006 and last updated around 2009, so the download is quite old with no support. The only gripe I have with this terrain is that it has no way to have beach lots which sucks major steel balls, but at least the terrain wasn’t false advertising! (A lot of “small terrain” ‘hoods up for download are actually pretty big..)

I thought about downloading SC4 again so I could edit the terrain and add the possibility of beach lots myself, but I wouldn’t want to redo the roads from scratch. Call it laziness if you want, but I AM an amateur with this!

Well I guess that’s it for this first blog post on TTHS (pronounced ‘this’????????? IDK). Leave a comment if you wanna just chat, let me know if you’re working on your own from-scratch neighborhood, or if you have any suggestions for my map layout!

Newest Update! There are way too many pictures of each lot to post so to see the whole of the lots you will have to visit the blog but I will try to max out the picture limit on this post.

RIO ISLA UPDATE — RIPPED GYM, SOUTHSIDE MARKET

So I’ve been working on Rio Isla for the last few hours and managed to finish most of the lot placements, hood deco, and two community lots!

As I post this, I’m realizing I should probably watermark my images. Not sure why, but I might in the future. Anyway I’m really liking the Tiny Isle neighborhood a lot! It’s the perfect size for what I had in mind, and my original world plans actually proved to be smaller than the actual ‘hood so I was able to fit in more lots (like a tea and massage parlor, another apartment lot, and some other places)!

In the image above, I have separated the ‘hood into two imaginary districts (with many different names): Northern Rio/North Isla/Northside and South Rio/Southside! (Everything to the right of the peninsula hood deco is Southside.)

The first lot I finished was the Southside Market, a grocery store for the whole ‘hood!

The grocery store includes a cafe with a small sitting area, two bathrooms, a cellphone carousel, two vending machines, a magazine rack, and pretty flooring (if I do say so myself). It’s not up for download at the moment, but if you want it I will update this post with a link to get it and all the CC you need to properly view it in-game.

Now onto the gym I’ve decided to call Ripped!

The gym includes a full selection of exercise equipment, a spa room, dance and aerobics area for Sims to move around freely (TV and stereos included), public showers, massage parlor, and a dresser. I didn’t include a pool because I have a lot specifically dedicated to a community pool coming soon.

Same goes for this lot — it’s not currently up for download, but if you want it I got it!

I love the grocery store's (and the buildings in general) aesthetic. Despite its compact size I'm sure the island will be rather interesting.

I love the look of the Gym and the other buildings. They look very nice. Your island looks very nice.

To make embedded pictures display you need to use the proper markup codes, in front of the URL you use this tag [img] and in back of the URL use this tag [/img]

So [img]URL[/img] with a URL being http://somepicture.jpg or http://somepicture.png however you should really use .jpg as this makes for smaller files.

I hope that this makes sense.

The weird part is that I tried that. I am pretty experienced when it come to forum BBCode, but I can't seem to get it to work on MTS!

Your cemetery pic is a great reason why I never use deco buildings. So unrealistic how they scaled everything. A 2 story building should not barely reach the top of the first floor of that high rise. Other than that I like it.

For me I'm not very fond of how blurry the texture/skin is. Up close it's a mess, but from the 'hood view it's attractive. I might swap it out for another building.

You could try one of the ts3 building conversions I think they should be textually more smooth though no clue about scaling
