Default Aurora Borealis Effect
I'm looking at the aurora borealis effect of Aurora Skies on YouTube and am wondering, if I buy Aurora Skies, will I be able to use that aurora effect on my custom neighborhood?

You can go for the easy fix solution and download a lighting mod from somewhere.

Looks promising, I'll devote some time to making sense out of it.

I don't know, I go out of my way to avoid mods.

Using a lightning mod and changing the .ini files is quite similar. Its like including the "mod" in your world file.
A lightning mod is a package with the .ini and .dds files. So there is no avoiding

As with many caw possibilities it can be quite complicated and may require personal skills and traits you find you don't have. In my opinion why should I use all my time and energy doing something other people are better equipped at doing, it's just a waste of time really. I found that out by trying it myself though, so I guess you can do that as well.
