What Neighborhood are you playing right now?
What Neighborhood (maxis or custom) are you playing right now? What is your all time favorite Neighborhood?I recently got tired of playing on Riverblossom Hills and deleted it, and now I'm looking for a new 'Hood to play, and would like to hear how others have been experiencing and liking theirs.
You can expand on the topic, or just write the 'Hoods names if you want to.

I am playing my own custom hood, named after my home town, in my current one. I also have a custom 20s hood, a custom 50s hood, and a custom castaway hood, and a back to the future set up :P
(have 12 documents folders)
All of my testing however occurs in Belladonna Cove.

Drama Acres, my custom hood that's on its last legs.
Widespot.
Strangetown.
I also have a Riverblossom Hills all set up and ready to play, with all the bin families placed, all the lived-in houses made over, and the Travellers veterans of all the vacation locales, including a resident Bigfoot. I did this while I was having troubleshooting problems with the game. Plus, I've made over a Pleasantview-Widespot hood to exist in an amorphous "retro" 20th century, with any style or technology between 1920 and 1950 fair game and all the rest off-limits. Will I play it? Maybe...
And does anybody really have a favorite? I play them all because I like them all.
Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.
(My simblr isSim Media Res . Widespot,Widespot RFD: The Subhood, and Land Grant University are all available here. In case you care.)

Whoa, that's a lot of hoods to keep up! I've always wanted to have a period hood (medieval), but the amount of cc I would have to download kinda scares me, maybe I should just dive right in and make another messy downloads folder! lol

I had fun playing Strangetown in the past, taking Ripp, Ophelia and Johnny out to the Za Xis' Restaurant of Nowhere and watching them hang out by the diner table was pleasing, and moving in Pascal and Nervous together to raise the newborn alien baby was interesting and even challenging with Nervous personality.

I currently have four hoods on the go:
Belladonna Cove - but I figured they were all way too rich to be living in apartments, so I made them broke.
Sheffield - a custom hood with high unemployment, but most people aren't as broke as in Belladonna Cove.
Victorian London - I set it up based on the Victorian Challenge rules, but it's morphing into a Tricou Mafia game instead.
Carr Crossing - new hood based loosely on BACC rules; I've only played about three rotations so far.

Currently playing my own custom mountain village style neighborhood. Gave up playing my previous custom neighborhood (an English countryside one) after deciding to pull all of my downloads and start from scratch. I also have a testing neighborhood in the rotation as well, which takes up a significant amount of playing time.
As for the new neighborhood, things are going well and...slow, but it's still been fun starting anew. Like the previous neighborhood it only contains sims that I've created (with a few custom sims by others), so I'm looking forward to everyone in the village getting to know one another.

Well, I'm currently using Sedona (the empty version) for my Alien Meeting Point playthrough. I've also done some tinkering with Keoni's Calypso Island to get rid of its stealth hoods (thanks to the late, great Mootilda for HoodReplace) and convert it into a subhood, a copy of which is attached to Sedona.

I got tired of Maxis Sims, so I went with empty neighborhoods. Then, I had to do a Windows reinstall and decided to with an empty map of Belladona Cove. Nothing but roads and a few bumps and hills. I added my own landscape items -- waterfalls, a couple rivers, huge boulders, tons and tons of trees. Then, I put in all the mods I need to keep from getting townies, made my own Sims and started the entire game from scratch. I like it!
Right now, my Sims are living in simple cabins and huts. But as generations pass, I hope to learn to build decent homes -- at least better than some of Maxis' in-game creations.
I can't see myself going back to Maxis' premade Sims, at least not the playables that came with the game. But I might go with one of marka93's Beginning neighborhoods, with live versions of the early ancestors. http://modthesims.info/browse.php?t...&gs=0&u=7749491
So many things to learn; so few brain cells to process the info needed to learn things!

My own custom neighbourhood, Oakbrook. It's basically all the Maxis and a handful of fan-made neighbourhoods along with a bunch of my own Sims. As of January, I'll have been playing it for two years, and I haven't even gotten through the first rotation yet (though this is accountable to going several months without playing at a time).
I also have a few of my older hoods to mess around in when I feel like it.

I only have one hood available in my game and it's one I created nine years ago and called it 'Isla Del Kashmire' on account that I picked that island template and was probably listening to a Led Zeppelin song at the time.
I used to have a hood in college where I made sims of all the people I thought were cool, like my college friends. I named it after my boyfriend at the time since he liked to build houses in it. That was a fun, unexpected time in my game's history. My friends would come into my dorm while I was at class and boot up the game to play their self-sims. One time I came back and there was a little girl in my sims's attic space, crying, probably slowly going red from lack of needs and I asked them wtf happened and one of them grabbed a child townie who was walking by and made them 'Anne Frank' in my attic.
Then one of my boyfriend's friends (not so cool) made it his mission to have an army of spawn but he didn't want his sim to marry any of the baby mommas so he just went around, moving ladies in, impregnated them, then made them have the baby, moved them out, made them take horrible care of the baby so the social worker would pick them up and so he could adopt them under his name. This was back before I think simblender was even a thing so it was a lot of work on his part. He got to four kids that way and then found out one day that his sim could could become a plant sim and just spawn...more spawn. He cured himself and his like 5 plant-spawn back to humanesque pixels and then moved them to a new lot he created to look like Mt. Olympus (because they were all named after the Greek Gods/Godesses of the main pantheon) he also built castles for all his other normal kids which ruined my suburban aesthetic and in the end, my boyfriend and I broke up, I gave the game files to his friend who still wanted to complete his mission, and then I deleted the hood to make more room in my game because I was playing on a mac back then and could use the space. Anyway...um totally told that story and it wasn't on the subject but it was a neighborhood I once played.

I am playing my custom hood with the 152 households, Black Rock Mountain; which I started a number of years ago. Made up with CAS Sims, bin Sims and all the townies, it is my favourite hood.
I also have Kipling and Gardenia, two hoods which is more experimental - Kipling is military, Gardenia is farming - they have had no townies and I find them too empty However, I worked hard on both and will still, on certain days, feel like playing them.
Then I have the former Test Hood, which isn't a test hood any longer, because I fell in love with the former Test Sim I restored the maxi townies in this hood and play the single family once in a while.

I have Bellefleur, my oldest "Maxis" hood-which has all the townies, etc-which I've been playing for a very long time-over 10 years, on and off, then there's a empty template of a new Pleasantview with nearly all of the early original families I've just set up; a build neighborhood which is standard for me, as it helps me fix and build new houses; and Egypt, which is a work in progress, empty and unplayed, but with the standard desert landscape.
Those are the active ones in my folder. I've got about 3 others I have sitting in a separate folder that I haven't played because I like variety-like Thalia.
And that's not even counting the separate foldered "Medieval" Sims 2 folder that I sometime swap out to play that theme.

Well, I thought it was a great story Charmful.
I only have one hood too - Little Carping. I've said stuff about it before on here so won't say much. It's the only hood I've ever played and I started when the game was released. It was completely remade without EAxis townies in 2007. The characters are all the same though I've changed the neighbourhood maps several times. Little Carping itself still looks similar to how it did when it started though - similar layout. It always had a custom map - I originally made it in Sim City 4 in 2004 and I'm just working up to doing a new version.
I did at one point fancy having a go at a medieval hood - called Rummilee. I started collecting CC and worked out a map but it never happened and I went back to Little Carping. I never want to be far from there. I made Polgannon, of course, but that was a whole other thing.

How do you keep the same characters when you remake the map?
Currently I'm playing my communist hood, Monopoly, using the fabulous Monopoly hood on this site. The nation has recently taken over the tiny unincorporated area called Yen and we shall see what will happen there. I have a strange feeling that Yen has suffered some kind of disaster, perhaps a nuclear attack, and much work will need to be done to make it livable. nevertheless, it was an affluent area, so the homes are likely to be quite nice. But, we'll see. No one can get in there right now to assess their new territory.
Then there's my handmaid hood, Downton. I'm still in early rotations there, but already females can't attend college and women are having a very hard time finding jobs. The birthrate has dropped dramatically, though the problem is more localized to the richer areas for some reason .
And finally, my megahood that Marka was so sweet as to make for me several years ago. It's just a giant hood where I put all my favorite characters from tv, movies, and books, and let them live their "happily ever after" (I hope) with each other. It's a genuinely nice place to live with low taxes and tuition. Although, I may have to steal a few ideas from Charmful's old hood.

I seem to recall a somewhat recent thread related to this.
currently am playing non-sims games.
most recent neighborhood I played I think was AnyGameStater's Mini Game. or maybe some temporary neighborhood.
edit:: did some editing in my unlocked version of the Tutorial neighborhood.

Right now I'm in the midst of starting up Marka's Beginnings of Strangetown as a vaguely mid-century...ish hood. The town will be part military, part R&D (kinda like the TV show Eureka) with a mish-mash of older and futuristic technology. Not sure exactly how I'm going to work the aliens in yet. Benevolent research partners...Sinister shadow government...Intergalactic trolls... Something. I'll figure it out.

I haven't played for a couple of months but am halfway through a rotation in Veronaville, my main hood. None of the original residents live there. I got rid of them all and started my own families. They're up to about 12th generation after playing on and off for years. I try to play other hoods but keep coming back to families I know well.

I played in Desiderata Valley for seven years (2007 - 2014) and before and after no campaign kept me invested like that one. It's finished now and trying to add to the story feels artificial and forced. Maybe that'll change some day, I really hope so, as I think to remember that back in the day my second word in every thread here was "In my Desiderata citystate we handle things like this".
My current "mainsave", in contrast to the shorter lived ones that come and go, is Windenburg Bay in Sims 4. It's almost two years old now, about the longest I've played a non-Desiderata save. What contributed to this "longevity" is that Windenburg Bay consists of the remnants of finished or abandoned challenges, legacies and whatnots.
My current Sims 2 'hood, Strangetown, I count as one of the shorter lived ones and I doubt that I'll still play it this winter.

I tried looking on MATY for it, but how do you 'unlock' the tutorial, anyway? I know there were instructions there, but I couldn't find them. My google-fu is not very precise either tonight..

did post some steps in the discovery thread in response to a question posted there.
there may be a safer method for roads & terrain than what I posted there; the Hood Replacer program, downloads section of this site.
have not read (or seen) MATY's tutorial, but it might be safer than the steps I gave.

My favorites are custom hoods created by MTS members. My favorite Maxis hood is Strangetown. Currently I am playing my own new custom version of Strangetown and, for some time now, have been setting up my own version of Pleasantville. Widespot and Polganon. Just installed Phaenoh's 'Pleasantly Thriving' which I discovered just this week!
