Welder Guy!

Date Posted: 3rd Jul 2011 at 1:00 AM

I just noticed the little achievement welder guy is back! Yay! I've missed him!

Edit: Also, it makes me v. happy there's now an achievement called Warp Core Engineer. And it appears you can get it for object mods, hmmm... *glances at Surak statue*

I should stick to deco

Date Posted: 30th Jun 2011 at 8:21 PM

Sigh, now I've had to waaah for help in one of Echo's tutorials again. I can make Sims interact with an object all right, but throw another Sim into the mix and they... aren't interacting at all.

Maybe I should just stick to making deco. At least I can make it spin...

Edit: Echo to the rescue! Now my object works just as I want it to!! Only now I don't have an excuse not to get cracking on the mesh...

Argh!

Date Posted: 22nd Jun 2011 at 8:47 PM

I think I'm going insane! I've managed to make my very first animated object (where the animation can be turned on and off at the Sims' discretion, thank you very much) and to make it two-tile and still have the game recognise that it's animated... but now the thing is no longer recolourable! The object in question was perfectly happy with its recols as long as it was one-tile, but as soon as I changed the footprint, the game stubbornly claimed that the thing isn't designable. But I want it to have recols, darnit! Argh!

Here's to hoping somebody is still keeping an eye on Echo's footprint thread... since the problem is footprint-related, it made more sense to me to post about it in Echo's thread than to make a brand new one, but maybe my logic isn't Earth logic.

Edit: Hooray, Leesester solved it!! If I ever have children, I shall name my first-born Leefish, regardless of gender. *nods*

Clarified creator policies

Date Posted: 3rd May 2011 at 11:22 PM

I've just come across a creator policy that forbids users to do ANYTHING with said creator's stuff, under any circumstances.

Of course, that is the creator's prerogative, and I'm not arguing that. But just to clarify my own creator policies, they now clearly state that, if it's just for your own, personal use, you can do whatever you darned well please with my things. Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew - if it's just for you, I don't care.

It's only when you want to use something of mine and publish it for others to download that my creator policies come into play. For everything else? Knock yourselves out.

I most certainly did not

I've found out what the 15th accomplishment to suddenly appear on my profile is. Apparently, if you downloaded any of the April 's fools jokes, you get a ZOMG you fell for it you sucker!!11! badge. Because nobody could possibly have downloaded it without falling for the joke but just because they were curious about what was really in the download, right?

Pfft. Well, at least the llama is cute...

Edit: Thank you, Lee, for taking pity on me and rehousing the llama. Now I'm a much happier Ocampa!

Edit 2: Argh, the thing regenerated! It's the Zombie Llama of Doom!

There's a new set of Babylon 5 accessories (division badges, flight wings and hand links) for you at Nixed Sims and at Off World Adventures!

One of these days I will upload my B5 things here as well, I promise. Expect them any time before 2014. :p

Tightened ToU

Date Posted: 27th Feb 2011 at 4:51 PM

As of today, I have tightened my Terms of Use: I no longer allow recolours using my textures.

Before, I have allowed people to use my textures as a base for their creations if they put some effort into it, but since "effort" apparently can be interpreted quite differently (and my interpretation is a strict one), I've decided simply not to allow the use of my textures at all.

This does not apply to any uploads using my textures that were posted before Feb 27, 2011 - but it does apply from here on. No exceptions.

I love CSS and want to have its children. *nods*

(Read that: I'm working on fine-tuning the layout of my blog and going a little CSS-crazy. )

Since I won't be on here tomorrow, I want to wish all my fellow Simmers - downloaders as well as creators - a slightly early but still very Happy New 2011! Here's to hoping it's a great one for all of us!

Let there be (warm) light

Date Posted: 18th Nov 2010 at 2:55 PM

I've finally figured out how to change the light a lamp emits! Yay!

Backstory: I'm currently working on a candle - i.e. table lamp - that I wanted to be base-game compatible and already have two recolourable subsets (so all I needed to do was add the flame and tinker a little with the BHAVs). Unfortunately, the best base-game lamp I could find for this emitted a very hard, florescent light that didn't look very candle-y at all (most base-game lamps seem to be like that), so it needed to be changed. Unfortunately, nothing I did seemed to affect it... until I realised that it wasn't just the lighting point I needed to change, but the light names in the text lists as well. And voilà! Candle light!

Now that I know how to fix this, I've updated my Vulcan meditation lamp, since it was also suffering from the hard light problem. It looks much nicer and warmer and meditation-inspiring now .
