I am not dead yet

Date Posted: 5th Dec 2008 at 1:42 PM

So, yeah, I disappeared. Then I became a lurker and finally poster at PMBD. After some kerfluffle, I actually started making things. Certain things happened in the community that killed my creative spirit for a while. I don't want to go into details here, but you can always PM me if you are curious. Calalily at calalilysims generously gave me a home after I got booted from TSR. However, I do want to submit stuff here now that I am actively creating again.

Now, I have to make some apologies to people.

Ummm, is this thing on?

OK, so after my grandmother died, I just needed to miss her for awhile. THEN, my computer did the whole BSOD, and I couldn't even get to the point where I could enter windows at all. I couldn't do anything. I had to wait to get to work to research the problem. Everything I read stated to fix this, I had to insert the original windows disk and reinstall. The problem is that this computer did not come with a disk. No disk, no reinstall. I couldn't even access the on computer reinstall. I finally took it to work where the guys there got it up and running (after keeping it for more than a week), but I didn't trust it to do anything on it except check email and visit forums. No simming for me until I could do the blasted reinstall. On the upside, I got addicted to Project Runway.

Anyway, I FINALLY got all the discs I need-yesterday. Amazing how long it took, but since I got them through work, Windows XP and Office only cost me $4.50. With those prices, I was willing to wait. So, as soon as I reinstall everything this weekend, I should be up and running. I do have a couple of projects in mind, so we will see.

I miss you guys.

Fairytale contest

Date Posted: 5th Dec 2007 at 8:12 PM

Hey! I made the short list. I am thrilled! There was a comment in the thread that since there were more chosen for the short list, it wasn't as special. I disagree. The competition was just tougher this time and there were more really well done things to chose from. The gargoyles were my real first skin and I am just tickled it made it to the finals. Yea me!

life and death

Date Posted: 15th Nov 2007 at 11:33 AM

I just lost my grandmother. Not in the "hey we don't know where she is" kind of way, but in the "she died and this really sucks" kind of way. I was very close to her and just spent the last week dealing with her death, viewing and funeral. I must say that viewings suck and funerals suck. I will miss her greatly.

There once was a woman named Mary
who could be kind of contrary
Funny, sweet and full of sass
As a grandmother she kicked ass
I will miss her more than much and very.

Ok, I have submitted a sim for the fairy tale contest. I think that is just about the best I can do in making sims. I am also working on a gargoyle set for sims: skins, matching clothes, so they look like the skins, recolored wings, hair recolored like the skins...the works. Please go and let me know what I need to add.

Oh! And I got a couple of submissions starred with the new MTS pics! I am really stoked about that. The two that got picked are some of my best work, so Hoorah!

I can't sim! I can't SIM!

Date Posted: 1st Oct 2007 at 7:20 PM

I am beating my head against a Body Shop wall. I am using these contests to break out of just making objects and explore some things I have never really tried. The first contest I made a neighborhood object. Still an object, but I have never done a neighborhood one. Didn't turn out wonderful, but it was a learning process. Now I am trying to make a freaking sim. It is hard! I don't know if I just don't have the proper eye for this kind of thing or what, but no matter how many tweaks and restarts I do, it SUCKS! I have gained an all new respect for people who sim. My hat, if I wore one, would be off to you.

barn set

Date Posted: 19th Sep 2007 at 4:33 AM

The next set is a barn set. I think it turned out cute, so I hope the moderators do too. It even has a manure pile with animated flies!

I cannot come up with anything for the next contest, so I probably will sit this one out. Unless I learn to sim. Ha.

Next project in progress

Date Posted: 19th Aug 2007 at 9:48 PM

So, I have spent a couple of weeks at my parents place. I did their house as my one and only lot upload if you want to see it. They have 15 acres and 3 dogs and 4 horses. With my 2 cats, that is a few animals. Anyway, my next set is also inspired by their place. It will be a large set of objects and I am getting lots of input from my mom.
