How are you today?
A Dozen Default Food Plates
11 sets of food plates + 1 more + 1 little wallhanging.
- I've made several sets of Default Replacement dishes along the years. And now they are all here! Also some new ones.
- On Chinoiserie in Black and Productivity Tango: Kintsugi is the Japanese art of broken plates mended together, with the mended edges painted as accents.
- Now we truly have a dozen sets! Dellevanth suggested Crystal plates. Usually, I don't take requests, but they look pretty! See for yourself. Have fun trying them!
- There is a lot of distortion of the textures on the Maxis bowls, if you look attentively at my pictures you will see clues of it, especially on the rim of the small bowls. This is normal.
Chinoiserie in Black, with Kintsugi
Chinoiserie in White
The sim eating a toaster pastry is my version of Ness' mother. For more information on her hair, outfit, skintone or anything else, please view the credits at the bottom of my post of Ness' Family.
Sugar Season - Ooo So Bright and She Remembers
Sugar Season - Productivity Tango, with Kintsugi
Wolinski - Funny Cartoony Food Plates, in Blue and Yellow
Dizzy and Cousins, in the colors of Pac-Man's ghosts
My set, Dizzy Has Cousins, had been released around the 20th anniversary of Pac-Man, the old videogame. The inscriptions on the dessert plates describe the Pac-Man ghosts themselves.
Crystal Clear - Not transparent - almost metallic - but still quite elegant for your sims' table
A closer look at Tea for Dizzy, the little wallhanging
The wallhanging Tea for Dizzy can be found in the catalog :
> Decorative / Wall / Handle and a Spout (recolor). Price : 2500 Simoleons. It's a basegame 1x1 painting, no need of any EPs or SPs, but you need Numenor's CEP.
The sim looking at the painting is, here again, Ness' mother, this time wearing a Maxis Seasons outfit. For more information on her hair, skintone or anything else, please view the credits at the bottom of my post of Ness' Family.
My plates are DEFAULT REPLACEMENTS, they replace the food plates normally used in the game when Sims eat regular Maxis foods and custom foods using the game's default plates. Some custom foods have their own custom plates, which will not be replaced. Please use one set of Default Replacement plates at a time, if you try to use several sets at once, only the latest set will show up in your game.
I tend to keep many sets and I switch them from time to time, along my mood, I change the extension .package for .later for the ones I am not using immediately. With a different extension they are not recognized by the game so they don't conflict with the one in use.
Have fun trying them all!
Default-Replacement Plates When you make a default-replacement for anything, you need to use your textures and the texture names of the original content in the game. In this case, the original plate texture names are platedinner-clean_txtr, platedinner-dinnerdirty_txtr, platedessertcakedirty_txtr and platedessert_txtr. The Dinner ones are used by the game on the group plate, group bowl, single plate and single bowl; the Dessert ones are used on the small dessert plate. Only the small dessert plate can handle an illustration in the middle without distorting it; if you try to place anything in the middle of the Dinner textures, the bowls will distort it horribly.
Funny Cartoony food plates in blue and in yellow, all the drawings and handwriting texture used on those plates were the work of George Wolinski, cartoonist. I used to have a book telling the life of George Wolinski with a history of many of his best cartoons, and back when the Charlie Hebdo events just happened, I scanned a few of the non-sexual ones from this book and decided to use them here on something - in this case, food plates. A lot of Wolinski's material has disappeared completely from the market - it is not recent, in french, and mostly adults-only, so its scope has always been extremely limited. Mr. Wolinski died tragically during the events at Charlie Hebdo. I used a small sample of his work in mine just so he isn't completely forgotten.
The designs on my Chinoiserie and Medallion plates were taken from Chinoiserie and Medallion, two build mode sets I made and uploaded here in 2007. The design on the ring around the Chinoiserie White Dinner plates was made by using and repeating a small part of the design on my white/blue Chinoiserie wallpaper.
The Chinoiserie and Medallion patterns come scans of real-life leftovers of wallpaper bought fromYork Wallcoverings back when 3 people of my family decorated their kitchens again at the same time. I edited those scans and recolored them for Sims 2 - my colors never existed in their catalog. The scans were imperfect and while working to fix them, I retextured and recolored them. If you had to find real-life examples again, you could never find the exact same as mine.
The Crystal Clear set
Not really crystal! I cannot link you to the source material as it's a real-life plate. I purchased a glass plate from the dollar store and took a picture, then edited that picture, adding my little shadow for the depth of the plate and a little lighting here and there (in photoshop). I made those highlights/shadows specifically for the sets included to this upload.
The cereals with blackberries as seen on some of the Dizzy pictures were made by sunni9676
