Gwrych Barony Serf Cottage

Lot Size: 1 x 2
Lot Type: Residential
Price: 19,916 Simoleons
Furnished: Yes
Bedrooms: 2 Bedrooms (sleeps 3)
Bathrooms: Outhouse with shower, toilet & sink

There is a second version of this lot available in the Downloads area of this post. The only difference is it uses a more "rustic" wood and straw roof. You can download either version. You really only need one. However, for those of you who like to have it all, feel free to download both versions!

This is a very basic hovel designed for your Medieval serfs. Activities include sleeping, campfire, cooking, television, darts, pottery and reading. The idea is to place several of these cottages in a small area in your kingdom for different serf Sims. Seeing that the Serf lot is basic (from simple straw floors and ceilings to a lack of "extras"), the idea is to personalize each cottage you place in your Medieval neighborhood to fit the life status of the Serf living there.

*There is also an ALTERNATIVE ROOF SERF'S COTTAGE available here for download. It has ALT R2 in the file name. This roof is ragged straw and wood, where as the other is cottage straw.

Lot Information for ALTERNATIVE ROOF is the same as the regular download. Only the roof is different and the water well has been lowered to accomodate the roof.

*Ermelind has other roof options available at her site here if you are interested:

*I purposefully left a HOLE in the roof in the kitchen area since this is the most basic of serf cottages. With Seasons, this will impact the temperature in your Sims home and allow rain to wet the floor in that corner of the kitchen and your Sims will be hot in that room when it's hot and cold when it's cold. If you don't want your Serf Sims to rough it this way, simply fill the ceiling tile in.

*The kitchen appliances are included. In the Gwrych lots, the refrigerator is typically invisible and can be found in a bucket of food under a counter. There is also an invisible dishwasher that is also located under a kitchen counter and accessed by clicking on the bucket of water beneath the counter. The Pot Belly stove by Numenor serves as both stove and trash compactor.

*There are lots of BARRELS in the game thanks to Sophie-David. Some are tables, others chairs, others purely decorative with neat clickable options. Still others are trash barrels. I suggest you click around and discovery how things work in the lot for yourself.

*In the kitchen, I purposefully turn one of the benches at the table facing the crystal ball television.

Enjoy the lot!

YEAH!!!!!!! She's BACK!!!!!

And thank you for, once again, another wonderful lot!!!

Missed you!

StephSim 6th Aug 2011 8:13 PM

Thanks JBeach!

Funny thing is I was going to seek you out to see what "medieval" creations you've been up to lately! I shall take things slowly for now. One lot at a time. But, I realize that I am paying even MORE attention to details with these final lots. So...Gwrych is back in business!

Artimis 6th Aug 2011 8:44 PM

Love this.

Chocobo 6th Aug 2011 11:09 PM

Saturnfly 7th Aug 2011 12:25 AM

This is freakin' COOL!

StephSim 7th Aug 2011 12:40 AM

Glad you llike! Do enjoy the download!

Yes. Since it is a "serf" cottage, I figured it should at least be under 20,000 Simoleons! So, it indeed it does make a perfect "starter" lot. It has most of your Simmies basic necessities. Glad you find it useful.

Thanks! Hope it works for your Simmies!

CatOfEvilGenius 7th Aug 2011 6:07 AM

Lovely, lovely thatch roof! Not an anachronistic item to be seen, I like that. I like the darts out back, for fun. All the CC is included, I love that! Thanks for making this sweet little cottage, and to all the CC makers who allow the use of their stuff in lots. This is why it's a good idea to do that, folks.

edit: Wait a minute! Television?! I don't see it. Is it a typo? What's a tv doing in a medieval peasant cottage?
edit2: Upon further reading of the cc list, I assume that would be wintermute's crystal ball tv (no longer available on MTS), but included in the cottage. Whew!

allison731 7th Aug 2011 1:30 PM

Wow...very creative!!!

StephSim 7th Aug 2011 2:06 PM

Hiya Cat....You are so funny.

I'm glad you figured out the TV thing. Yeah...just the Crystal Ball television. Thank you for the compliment and with you I salute those who allow their objects to be freely included in lots. It makes creating themed lots a bit easier!

allison Thank you.

VerDeTerre 7th Aug 2011 5:08 PM

Thank you VerDe Terre. I create to share my visions for the Sim world. Do enjoy the lot!

Hiya Walter! Thanks for the 'welcome back'. I've missed the MTS community as well. I'm easing my way back into Simming! One day, I will move beyond Gwrych. But,for now I shall continue forward!

terame 24th Aug 2011 1:32 AM

This is beautiful! I can never seem to make anything so perfect for my Medieval Sims. I can't wait to use this in my game!

StephSim 26th Aug 2011 8:02 PM

Thank you terame. It will make things "seem" a bit more medieval if nothing else. Enjoy the lot!
