I only cruise around the Exchange for the building tutorials, somehow they are actually pretty good there. My personal favorite writer there is RealPollyMogs. I HIGHLY recommend reading all her(?) tutorials. Her writing style is entertaining as well, so your time won't be wasted. As I was cruising around I came upon a Design Challenge she had done, it looked fun so I gave it a try. Basically, you download a 'footprint' and have to build a house based on that. There are some more rules to it too, but thats the biggest part of it. Check it out here. It took me an AWFULLY long time to find SimLunatic6's lot to download and I never did find his(?) original post with the rules in it. Sorry.

Anyways, here's my house based on it. When I took my first look at that foundation, I nearly panicked. I RARELY build houses that large, or even use lots that big. I decided that I wanted to make a nice beachy house to take advantage of the nice views of Sand Simolean Point. With this in mind that long arm became a covered porch with outdoor living space and a greenhouse. I also wanted to experiment with a house that didn't have its front door facing the street. This house was also vaguely inspired by a house I kinda remember selling Girl Scout cookies too many years ago. It was rather skinny and had a glass enclosed room that resembles the porch on this house. I think now I'm rambling, time for pictures.

I really like the sunken living room. I like to experiment when I build and this is a fun little feature.

The only CC that was used in it was one my own 'Maxis Floors as Terrain Paint' and the invisible driveway recolor, though the driveway isn't included. I figure everyone has it by now, if not, you are totally missing out on something good. I've uploaded both furnished and unfurnished versions. As you can tell from the pictures, I've used a lot of high price tag furniture. The price was beyond ridiculous so I took out the furniture from the porch, greenhouse, and backyard in the furnished version just to help make this house affordable. It still really isn't but then it might be depending on how you play your game.

Enjoy!
