Title: 01 Apartment Lane [NL]
Category: Lots & Housing > Residential

Cost: 69.821
Lot size: 3x2
Households: 4

Nightlife expansion required.
Custom content included: 2 x Wallpaper: Maxis Lost Club Yellow (found by LyricLee/rentechd), and one by myself

Description:
4 apartments, between 1 and 3 rooms + kitchen + bathroom. Two apartments are furnished, the other two only contain plumbing and some basic fixtures. Every apartment has a balcony; the house has a large basement for communal use, a small garden, and two driveways. Some landscaping/decoration.

Basic appliances included in the furnished apartments: lights, toilet, shower/tub combo, fridge, kitchen sink, phone, burglar alarm, smoke detector, trash can, bookshelf. Apartment 1 (ground floor + basement) also has a toaster oven, an easel, and a mirror; apartment 4 (top floor) a chess set and a TV.

Performance: I hope this house will work nicely for most people, as long as the total number of sims on the lot doesn't exceed a certain limit. I have this in my game at the moment, and with 5-6 sims it doesn't seem to lag more than most other houses; with 8-9 sims it became rather slow, though. (My computer is relatively lame I think, 1.4GHz/512MB RAM/old NVidia card)

Recommended hacks: You need to assign the doors somehow so that your sims know which apartment is theirs. I think if you have OfB you can use the locking doors funcionality for that, otherwise get hold of Inge Jones' lockable doors or access management system (formerly simlogical.com) or use the "Smart Door" hack by tunaisafish (untested by me, but seems to work nicely + is well-maintained). I also like to use Inge's Mortgage/Rent shrubs for this kind of house.

Note:
If you get an "expansion pack data required" error upon installation, use Clean Installer instead of the Maxis one. Apparently this is a known issue (not specific to this download), see this thread describing the problem and this post (daysies) explaining the workaround.

Enjoy!
