The room in which Lorelei lay was bright. Bright white furniture. Bright yellow walls. Bright fluorescent lights. She rolled over and closed her eyes, but quickly opened them again when her mind took over. She really didn’t think she could handle that yet. Her memory of the last few hours was hazy to say the least, but there were certain parts that were so deeply etched in she didn’t think she would ever forget them.
After she left Elliott’s she hadn’t known what to do. It was dark and she was alone. She didn’t want to just aimlessly wonder the streets but she didn’t have any friends or family to go to. She knew that if she managed to find a quiet bar in which to sit that someone Sam knew would recognise her and tell him where she was; the town wasn’t big enough that this situation could be avoided. After an hour she decided there was nothing she could do but go home. It was the last place on earth she wanted to go but she had no other option. She remembered how much she was shaking as she tried to get her key in the lock and that she wished she hadn’t returned to that place. As soon as she had gotten the door open he had appeared, his eyes filled with cold, hard rage. The events which followed were painful – physically as well as emotionally – and she tried any method she could to push them away. She wasn’t ready to deal with that yet.
