PJs vs Underwear

pajamas because I'm too lazy to direct them to sleep in underwear and I don't really see it happening autonomously

AF lets you use the same thing for undies and pjs...so I...yeah

AndrewGloria

Almost always underwear, and it does happen autonomously in my game! What with an "Underwear after Shower" hack and lots of hot tubs (mostly the free love tubs actually), fully-clothed Sims are almost a rarity in some households!

I let my sims sleep in underwear or pyjamas depending on the mood I'm in. But I think they use PJs the most.

(Off record: I can not understand why it's possible for them to sleep in a bathrobe. I mean, Who do that irl?)

Cassiopee A

Mostly PJs if I direct them to go to sleep. Sometimes undewear, for a change, if I think it might suit their personnality and it's summer in game, ... well and in real life too.

If I played now, a cold winter day, and it was autumn, winter or spring in game, I'd give all of them long sleeved PJs, otherwise I'd feel cold myself!!

Bigsimsfan12
7th Feb 2018, 4:59 PM
Almost always PJs. I've been playing this game since I was a very prudish kid, so even though I sleep in underwear in real life and have some really nice underwear in my game, I just press PJs without thinking.

The bathrobe is not really the issue, but slippers? Come on.
It's like these male bathing suit with sandals...yeah right, jump in the pool wearing shoes.

Depends on the Sim (having quite a liking for pretty, comfy pajamas and pretty undies myself :))

All my Sims are allowed to lounge around in their pajamas when they are off, especially in winter.

Pajamas, because I won't subject my sims to the same embarrassment I felt when I ran out of the house naked during an earthquake!

Sometimes I let some of my sims wear underwear to simulate lack of other clothing to wear, like in apocalyptic hoods, but zombies don't care about modesty. :deal:

Oddly I have a rule for this - PJs at night because bedtime - dress appropriately you uncultured oaf, undies during the day because you don't get completely undressed for a nap - or if you're sane you don't anyway. Mind you, if I nap during the day it's usually in a crumpled heap wearing all my clothes and I look like something left out for the washing basket for the rest of the day. Some sims wear nothing at all, especially after woohoo - the joys of ACR right there.

Both. 'cause using a PJ without underwear is just gross...

My sims tend to switch a bit between them. Mostly PJs for all ages, though adults might go for underwear if they're having some fun-time. Some adult sims tend to vary, and I've seen them go to bed in PJs and get up wearing undies (sometimes after fun-time). If they get to choose, it varies. A lot of them tend to prefer undies.

Personally, I'm all for PJs. They're comfy, and practical. You can wear them around the house on days off, and in a crisis during night (fire, etc.) you can put on shoes and a jacket, and run out of your house without scrambling to find clothes. I'm using the same philosophy for my sims.

Usually only PJs, this is a bit of a weird question, isn't it??

AndrewGloria
7th Feb 2018, 10:33 PM
I'm afraid some my Sims are more than happy to go out to the front street in their undies. Bianca Monty is one of my females who prefers not to wear a bra. One day she went out to the front street (Mendoza Lane in downtown Veronaville) to take the trash out, wearing only her panties. Ex-townie Carla Cameron happened to be passing. She looked at the almost naked Bianca, and a thought bubble appeared over her head surrounded by lots of love hearts. That was the start of the first Lesbian relationship in our Veronaville. :luff:

Dunno. Nobody asked it before, so I was curious to know how (most) simmers prefer to dress their sims when sending to bed. The Only game that includes two options/variations of sleepwear, so I had to ask. I usually kinda choose for them randomly not based on any criteria. I didn't know they sims had a different preference for autonomously choosing one (I thought they only picked the same either of two as a default one).

Pajamas if they are well and sleeping on their own, underwear if they are sick (so I can spot a sick Sim leaving their bed and wandering over to an area where plague tiles would cause a big problem) or if a lover is on the other side of the double bed (because lovers).

Also, I should probably do something about my clothing classifications, because at least one of my Sims has been spotted sleeping in a bed in a glamourous silk dress and high heels. As someone who doesn't even wear high heels when upright, it is difficult for me to understand the utility of wearing such apparel in bed (except, perhaps, as a self-imposed challenge). After all, Sims don't tend to have many parties at 4 am...

I mean, they automatically whip into PJs if I send them to bed. I don't bother requesting them get dressed for bed because that's just an extra step. Kind of like how I appreciate them just whipping into their clothes after a shower instead of walking around nude until I request they put on clothes - extra steps man, don't want or need them!

Edit: Sometimes they may have underwear CC designated as their 'PJ's' but it's still PJ's to me!

I have a mod in my game that allows me to be spontaneous and choose what my Sims will sleep in just before they go to bed ... I've had for years and I couldn't remember what is was called or where I got it from so I had to Google it  ... it came from here: http://modthesims.info/d/163716. I also plan their sleepwear based on each Sim's personality .. I have a few underwear sleepers and few nude sleepers ... nude sleepers are usually the ones who have no qualms about joining others a hot tub naked. Sims who are extremely low in energy will change into their underwear (if they are wearing any). :heyhey:

Sims are so happy to walk out the front door in their next to nothings that I had to put a forced clothes changing sign in my Victorian Neighbourhood, so that they didn't offend Victorian propriety.

I usually go based on personality: very Outgoing Sims usually sleep in underwear, very Shy Sims in PJs. In between, it depends: usually PJs if they have work the next day, otherwise let them pick or perhaps a Serious/Playful-based die roll.

PJs vs Underwear vs naked.

Depends on the sim's personality or what they were doing previously to sleeping. ;)

That said a lot of times I forget and send them to bed in PJ's.

Here we wear clothes for a nap unless they are very uncomfortable. So if kids are very tired I send them to bed for a nap in PJ's but don't like it. I may use the simblender to put them back in their clothes.

PJs at night, though I have undies that are classified as PJs and Romance sims tend to have those. But it's interesting to see what they have chosen if they went to bed for woohoo first.

But there's an option when you click on the bed - sleep in PJs; sleep in underwear, sleep in the nude (that one's a hack). Don't you get that in your game?

edit: oh wait, I might have that Smonoff hack Lilsister mentioned. That's likely - I tend to like stuff like that.

PJ's or Underwear option on beds is vanilla @Charmful if your beds lack the option it might be a clashing mod. It's no extra step since you are clicking on the bed anyway.

I normally always have them wear pj's, but depending on how I feel. I just can't stand seeing my sims in their underwear when I'm feeling really cold. Also, is there any way to have toddlers in undies without hacks and cheats? Or is that just something Maxis added in for nothing?

Maxis added it for nothing. It is there but..without cheat, not accessible. You can though, categorize anything to be PJ, I did for the diaper. So I can have toddlers only wearing a diaper as their PJ.

Sims 2 children seem to represent very young kids, like about 5-10, and I've known kids as old as eight who take afternoon naps, so it is normal, at least for young children. It would seem reasonable for Sim children to take afternoon naps, at least during the first half of the stage.

On topic: Pajamas always for teens and younger, unless there's a story explanation for undies(poor family so not much to wear, apocalypse situation, etc.). For adults they wear undies if they're sleeping alone or with a lover, if I need them to share the bed with someone they are not romantic with they wear PJs, also neat or shy sims usually wear pajamas even alone.

A few old-fashioned Sims wear pyjamas, and a few others, mostly female I think, have invested in alluring nightwear, so choose that at bedtime, but, as already mentioned, most of my Sims sleep in their undies. And that generally means sexy skimpy underwear too -- for males as well as females. But, let me tell you a story. . .

One night Andrew invited his long time friend and chess partner Malory Mace round after school. They soaked together in the hot tub chatting; then they played chess together in Andrew's room. About half past eleven Gloria interrupted them and said, "Andrew, it's really too late for Mallory to go back home to Downtown on her own. Ask her to stay the night."
"But mum," said Andrew, "Where will she sleep?"
"Why, in bed with you of course, Andrew," replied Gloria. "It's a double bed. There's plenty of room for both of you."
"But Mum!" exclaimed Andrew. "Mallory's Romance! She might get ideas."
"You little prude!" answered Gloria with a kiss. "You and Mallory have been friends for years. Of course she knows that you're gay. And that you're going steady with Julian. And she respects you. She's not going to get any 'ideas'."
So Andrew dutifully asked Mallory to stay the night. And Mallory readily accepted her friend's invitation.

But Andrew was still not completely convinced. Instead of going to bed in the tiny tie-side briefs he usually wears, he went to his wardrobe and dug out a set of sky blue pyjamas that he hadn't worn in years.
http://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/7/7/6/6/6/2/3/MTS_AndrewGloria-1782501-AndrewinSkyBluePyjamas.jpg
And he insisted that Mallory put on full-length pyjamas too.
http://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/7/7/6/6/6/2/3/MTS_AndrewGloria-1782502-MalloryMaceinBluePyjamas.jpg
And so the two friends did sleep together . . .
http://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/7/7/6/6/6/2/3/MTS_AndrewGloria-1782503-AndrewandMalloryinBedtogether.jpg
. . . each keeping very carefully to their own side of the bed!

Sorry for the tiny pictures. The incident happened a few years ago. And personally I think Andrew actually looks quite fetching in his old Maxis pyjamas. :) What do you think?

Always pajamas, unless they woohooed and fell asleep afterwards, in which case they wear whatever they woohooed in (which they choose by themselves, thanks to ACR). I remember seeing a download that was a ton of super cute little girl's panties and almost downloading it before remembering that I would never actually see those undies in my game.

Speaking about toddler PJs, though, I dislike how toddlers are perpetually in PJs because they change into them to go to sleep and then they never change out unless you do so manually, which I always forget to do. It's unfortunate because I think some of the toddler everyday clothing is actually cute and would like to see it more often. Is there a "automatically change toddlers into everyday when taking them out of their cribs" hack somewhere?

Slight derail. Is it usual for children to take an afternoon nap in RL? I always find that my sim children's energy drains faster than the adults'.

In the game, a child's energy definitely does degrade faster than an adult's. Which I think is realistic; growing takes lots of energy. I think their hunger should degrade faster to reflect this, too, although I've never noticed if it does. IRL...Well, babies and toddlers crash all the time, of course. Their natural rhythm is to sleep when they're tired and be awake when they're not, regardless of the time of day Between the ages of about 4 and 8, my kids had to take an afternoon nap (or at least just have some quiet downtime in their bed/room; I homeschooled them, so they were home, not at school) just to get them out of my hair for a while. :) Then when they were going through puberty, they were exhausted all the time, and often power-napped of their own volition. My very physically active son took long naps when he could (and developed a talent for sleeping under any conditions, which serves him well now that he's in the Army, too), but even my far more sedentary and nerdy/bookwormy daughter napped a lot then. I remember doing so during puberty, too. The physical and hormonal changes that puberty brings are exhausting.

As for the thread's real topic...Many of my Sims go for Option 3: Nekkid, because I have a nudist mod. I don't use it in every neighborhood, though, and where I don't, if they're putting themselves to bed, I let them choose their sleeping attire. If I'm commanding them to sleep, I'll usually pick PJs for chicks because sleeping in a bra and panties, to me, qualifies as torture, and underwear for guys because all the boys/guys I know, if they don't sleep naked, seem to prefer sleeping in their boxers. Probably because it's the lazy choice, as they're already wearing them. ;)
