I want to watch some vampire movie, but I don't want cute vampires who sparkle or vampire gangs. I want something essentially like a zombie apocalypse only with vampires, who look disturbing and rabid. Basically mindless from a parasite or some other kind of infection causing they're only purpose to be to drink blood, or possibly even conscious with no control over their body, slowly going more insane by the horror.

This basically comes as close as possible http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120611/ It's a trilogy, but the vampires aren't "mindless." They're evil, and definitely frightening, but I wouldn't call them mindless

Depending on your definition of "vampire" (mine is just "cannibalistic or blood sucking creature), you'd probably like "The Descent". They're all brainless blind cave beasts! "30 days of night" is pretty good too, closer to the more humanlike definition of vampire.

I suppose you could even call "I am Legend" a vampire movie too.

I used to find the old Dracula movies a bit unnerving.

I think 30 Days of Night is very much the type of movie you are talking about: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0389722/. I Am Legend might qualify also, sort of, as a previous poster suggested.

Going back a long way, Nosferatu, the original, is scary. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0013442/ Of course, it is a 1922 silent movie.

How about "Priest"? The vampires look positively inhuman.

The original Salem's Lot may be available on DVD. It starred David Soul and is an adaptation of Stephen King's novel. The book is actually terrifying.
