The last new movie was the new Conan film. Don't do it, or at least don't say I didn't warn you.

On the other hand, I watched Monsters vs. Aliens between football games today. My daughter is not a little girl, so I have missed out on many years worth of newer kids movies except when playing uncle.

Faces in the Crowd. It's a murder mystery with prosopagnosia thrown in. I find prosopagnosia ("face-blindness") interesting from a neurological perspective, but the movie was pretty mediocre. It was also inaccurate in its portrayal of prosopagnosia, but the disorder is admittedly difficult to translate accurately through a visual medium. Despite the inaccuracy, the use of different actors and CGI facial modification was interesting and at least partially conveyed the feeling of what it would be like not to recognize faces. I'd probably rate the movie a 3/5 for being mildly interesting in some regards, but fairly rote in others.

That was the last movie I watched, too. I thought it was pretty good. Fairly accurate, at least as far as popular fiction goes, though there were some logistical issues with how the fictional CDC handled things. Herd immunity is far more effective than individualized raffle, for example.

heh, yeah

at first i was kinda turned off by the characters(they all looked gangly), but it's actually really funny, spoofing western films' cliches

as for me, it was bucky larson: born to be a star, some scene made me cringe, if you like crude/gross humor you might wanna give it a shot

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (the new one). I haven't seen the Swedish version but I did read the book. The film is very true to the novel in most regards. They left out a couple of the not as important, at least in my opinion, sub plots from the novel. It was easy to follow even if you hadn't read the book. The opening credits were absolutely brilliant. I saw it twice, that's how much I enjoyed it. It's pretty long, at least by today's standards, but I wasn't bored at all.

Plan 9 from Outer Space. One of those "so awesomely bad that it ends up being good" movies--the obvious cardboard sets (the cemetery, the airplane cockpit,...), the wooden or completely phoned-in acting, the horrible special effects (hubcaps with the strings showing), etc.

Love & other drugs. Not sure what I thought of it though. An ok movie perhaps. Like a 3 out of 6 or something. Nothing you would watch with a bunch of friends though, but a movie for rainy days or so. The main story in the movie is about a guy selling viagra that meets a girl with parkinsons. She doesn't think he can be able to love her and blablabla. Was never sure were the viagra stuff fitted into the movie, but well.. ey..

Dread, from 2009. I liked it, a lot actually. Might be because I was memorized by Shaun Evans bum. I wanted to stick a fork in that thing damn it.
Anyway, it was that kind of movie that so not scary for the viewer but hella scary for the characters, if you know what I mean. Clive Barker wrote it and Anthony DiBlasi directed it, Jackson Rathbone acted in it along with Shaun Evans bum, I mean, just Shaun Evans. Damn.

THX 1138 and my, it sucked. By the end I was already in fast forward. One can make long silences say quite a lot, and make the still emptiness a character itself - vide "2001: A Space Odyssey". THX tries and fails miserably.

Just watched John Carter yesterday, and Dr Seuss's The Lorax this afternoon.

Thoughts on the movies, well... the plot in 'John Carter' looks like a failed recreation of Avatar, and some aspects of the story doesn't make sense- though it's not as bad as some other movies I've watched recently. The Lorax is quite okay, though the fact that they made romance the driving force of the entire movie (the guy trying to impress his crush is basically the entire reason he does everything) kinda degrades the actual message of the story... They do, however, have great music and I love the animation of the river scene. The water textures were simply beautiful.

I watched a British film the other night called The Awakening. A ghost story that started really well but lost its way in the last ten or fifteen minutes so I wound up with a "bad taste in my mouth" by the time the credits rolled and I don't recommend it.

Last night I watched The Grey with Liam Neeson. I was really looking forward to seeing it but it was kind of lame. About a bunch of men whose plane crashes in Alaska (I think?) and the survivors are hunted by a huge pack of huge CGI wolves throughout the movie. I found it disappointing.

I'm not into horror, and it's clear that most of the audience were watching the movie to see Dan Radcliffe in action- whom I don't really care about (really, I'm not someone who wacthes a movie for the sake of ogling over the characters). The last movie I watched in a cinema was Red Tails. This movie should have been about how the Tuskegee Airmen suffered through extreme racial bigotry, served as war heroes beyond any doubt, and yet were NEVER allowed into the officer's club because the US Air Force wanted to send the message that no black man can be equal to a white man under any circumstance. But it was brought to us by George Lucas, so it was all about 1944 Star Wars and it included a scene outside that strongly implied that they WERE allowed into the club and were even bought drinks by the other officers :faceslap:

Last movie I saw was Iron Man 2. It was awesome and I plan to see the Avengers before it leaves the cinema.

The Thaw. It's basically a movie about a virus that's going to end the world. The ending was stupid and I saw it coming 30,000 miles away. :|

 Iron man is my favorite.

I have watched I am number four, recently. It is a great movie, but I dislike the fact that the book series does not follow a single main character.

Sorry a bit of excitement but a great movie, I'll be adding it to my collection once it's out in stores.

(EDIT) Thanks tofanpw for pointing out that mistake! >.< Don't know what I'd do if my head wasn't screwed on right...

I just saw Marie Antoinette with Kirsten Dunst. It was odd and inconsistent. Beautiful costumes, authentic sets, and some really artsy shots, but still inconsistent. It started out with a serious and historical tone only to switch before the midpoint to something much more modern. Even the music switched from period to modern rock. At one point, the camera spans Marie's collection of shoes and there is a pair of Keds amongst them. Overall, not a great movie, although a curious one and it stimulated a desire on my part to learn more about the subject.

I've watched 'Saving private Ryan' yesterday, brutal and sad movie at once. It is a very graphic and violent film, but a good one. I actually loved it. I want my boyfriend to see it and am waiting until he's braced for it. The last scene really brought my dad to mind. My dad came back from the war ok, but he lost a ton of buddies and the film made me wonder if he had survivor's guilt. I remember visiting a lot of graveyards with him as a child. He knew way too many of the people buried there.

I was looking forward to seeing that when its at the movies, but with all the sucky reviews I might wait for DVD...

Other than that I watched Puss in Boots the other night, it was hilarious. :)

I've been on a bit of a movie bender lately, finally got to watch Paul, Despicable Me and The Hangover II. Was a bit disappointed with the Hangover II, they just didn't manage to pull it off - definately missing something. Despicable Me was a cute story, I loved the plot. Paul was just.. well it was just.. AWESOME, that is the least I can say about that - one of the most offensive and yet charming movies I've seen in a while.

Tried watching Grundhog day with Bill Murray, but had to give up in the middle of the movie. Basically it's about him waking up in the same day over and over again.. It gets a bit boring after 4-5 times..

The last movie I watched was The Avengers in 2d -- it was awesome. I can only imaging how much better it would have been in 3d.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith... My little brother wanted me to watch it with him and even though I STILL don't completely understand the plot (watched it 3+ times.. I have a LOT of boys in my family, okay?), I watched it with him because he's too cute when he asks.

EDIT: K Now the last movie I saw was Office space it was soo funny..
