A simple sort of recommendation/heads-up thread on up and coming titles (or old titles or whatever) so people may have a better idea of what might be good to check out.

[Movie name] - [In Cinemas/New DVD/Old] - [Genre]
[Rating between 0 and 10]
-[Personal comment in less than 15 words. Try not to spoil.]

I'm going first:

Crazy, Stupid, Love - In Cinemas - Romance/Comedy/Drama/Family
-RomComs don't get ANY better than this, even for non-fans. Go see it, people.

10th Aug 2011, 7:06 PM
Haunting in Connecticut-Old-ish (Watched it on Netflix) -Horror/Thriller
-Watched it twice. Wasn't expecting much. Pleasantly surprised.

I'm dying to see Crazy,Stupid,Love. Seriously. Four of my favorite actors/actresses in one movie.

I'm having a hard time remembering what the last movie I watched was. I guess I'll rate the last movie I remember watching that I wasn't re-watching.

Fright Night - Old - Horror
-My rating of this movie is highly subjective. It contained a lot of elements that I very much enjoy, but that others may not feel as strongly about and, beyond those elements, it's pretty much just a cheesy 80's vampire flick. Nothing wrong with cheesy 80's movies, but don't go in expecting a work of art. It's very light compared to modern horror, with a little nudity and a little blood, but really not much gore factor. The main "horror" element is that it contains a supernatural creature, a vampire.

Gypsy -- the '62 version, not the '93 one. (In an amusing coincidence, my mother and myself were born in respectively '62 and '93) - Old - Musical
-Severe pacing issues and actors who can't sing, but are otherwise decent, and the best montage evar in the form of Natalie Wood singing "Let Me Entertain You" several times while coyly disrobing. Also the song lyric "Hold your hats and hallelujah, mama's gonna show it to ya."

Super 8 - New - SciFi? (there's no sci)
Actually, I'm being generous with the 4 - it was pretty bad. Includes all the clichés - dead mother, evil government operatives, kids smarter than adults, etc, etc which would be fine if the script wasn't so godawful. Don't want to say more in case someone who wants to see it, hasn't seen it yet. Sorry for more than 15 words.

I think they call that speculative fiction.

Really? I thought if just the ending had been different (Say, with more eating and less explanation), it would have been brilliant. The kids are rather stupid actually, but they do act a little out of character and consequently "too smart" in the end -- which, again, could've been fixed fairly easily.
I was really into the Cloverfield-esque theme in the first half of the movie, and combined with the added aspects of coming of age and also the seventies, because 70s American cars rock, I think it could've been pretty damn good.

Then again, I do tend to focus a lot on "what could've been" in a movie. I figure if a it managed to give me those ideas and thus made me consider the implications had things taken place the way I wanted them, it can't be that bad.

Dancer in the Dark - DVD - Drama/Musical

I generally don't like musicals (Sweeney Todd being the exception) but I really love this movie! It's an interesting/bizarre take on traditional musicals and the music is fantastic. I would've given it 10, but it's just too painful to watch, hehe.

Bjork gave an amazing performance (really stunning) and I'm surprised she didn't even get an oscar nomination. But I guess the academy favor traditional mainstream films.

11th Aug 2011, 12:15 PM

It was entertaining at most parts and a little dry at some. Overall a pretty funny movie with some surprisingly good performances.

'Really' I thought it was an exercise in idiocy, but to say why, I'd have to go into the many plot contrivances in more detail. Are we critiquing the critiques now?

It was certainly not my intention to come off as hostile towards your opinion. It may have been a poorly placed "really" -- it was meant as "that is surprising to me; tell me more", a usage similar to an exchange along the lines of:
"Paul made out with a goat last night, but that's not the worst part! I heard he managed to involve egg rolls somehow!"
"Did he really?!"

If anything, I was hoping to start a discussion, not to critique your critique. However, I apologise for any perceived enmity.

I wasn't mad - 2 people could write 2 very different reviews of the same movie. (and Super 8 does have 82% on Rotten Tomatoes for whatever that's worth - which is partly what motivated me to see it.)

Puss in Boots - In Cinemas - Family/ Comedy
-I'm a cat person, I love how puss in boots look like. but the overall story is a boo! you can sleep in the cinema, but the comedy is good. you can also learn a lesson from it. I just love watching cats.

2nd Nov 2011, 1:43 PM
Evil Dead 3: Army of Darkness.

It's... Interesting? No, you have to watch it before you can understand.

2nd Nov 2011, 2:53 PM
Night of the Living Dead - Old - Horror
Good pacing. Good character interaction. Not enough character development, but the zombie explanations are entertaining.

2nd Nov 2011, 4:12 PM
Super (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1512235/) - (2010) - Action/Comedy/Drama 8/10
I cared a lot about the protagonist. The concept of a "normal guy" superhero is portrayed realistically.

Still more than 15 words. hurg.

Yes or No - Old DVD, from like 04 or something - Romance

I've seen this movie about 50 times. It's the romance movie my girlfriend and I really connect ourselves with because it's about an Asian lesbian couple and the characters really fit who we are. A girl who dresses, acts and lives her life as a boy who loves to cook and garden (me) who moves into a new dorm with a girly girl that likes fish (her). We're obsessed with Asian/Asian culture and we're a lesbian couple, so we both love it. There is also NO PORN scenes, or anything CLOSE to porn scenes though. But it's fine, because it's very fluffy and romantic without overdoing it.

4th Nov 2011, 1:39 AM
The Strangers (Old, I guess)

I had the movie spoiled for me so I already knew what was going to happen. Because of that I didn't find it scary at all.

9th Dec 2011, 3:19 AM
Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll - DVD - 2010

A biopic about Ian Dury and, for a biopic, it was pretty good. Surreal at times like real life. They didn't try to sugarcoat anything.

10th Dec 2011, 6:10 PM
Breaking Dawn

Honestly, the only part worth watching was the "werewolf" fight scene. I liked the effects.

Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil.

I thought it would be super funny as in evil-dead kind of funny. But it was only kind of mildly amusing.

I.O.U.S.A. - 2008 - Documentary

A non-partisan look at the issues involved in the U.S.'s chronic fiscal irresponsibility. It specifically focuses on the tax vs. spending imbalance. Does a good job at presenting the problems in an accessible, but not condescending manner, though it's a little light on solutions.

12th Dec 2011, 2:16 PM
The Real Dirt on Farmer John - DVD - Documentary (2006)

I enjoyed this autobiographical film about one man's life journey beginning with his childhood on a farm in northern Illinois in the 1950s, and includes his having to deal with being 'different' amongst narrow-minded neighbors.

12th Dec 2011, 2:58 PM
Inception (2010)- Sci-Fi/Action/Heist

The characters could certainly use more background story and development...

Night of the Living Dead - Old - Horror
The sixties or the nineties version (just curious)?

Sita Sings the Blues (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QkYOqI3jSM&feature=watch-now-button&wide=1)-not sure of the age, but it says it was uploaded in May of this year- mythology/humor/drama/musical

The various forms of animation (and how they mix them) throughout the film are all fantastic, I really love the music (all around), and it really was innovative of them to use old Annette Hanshaw songs to serve as Sita's "voice" for most of the film. Most definitely a must if you're a big animation fan. The only real problems seem to that Nina seems to be trying to draw parallels between her life and Sita's which were either severely over-emphasized, or never there in the first place.
There's also this musical/animated scene about an hour in (you'll know when you come to it), which I personally love, and got that it was supposed to represent what Nina was feeling/going through at the time (and maybe it was meant to tie into what was about to happen to Sita as well), but I could easily see how others could consider it more of a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BigLippedAlligatorMoment), it may just be a matter of taste.

Sorry for the long "review," :turtle: but there's just a lot to say about the film, whether you find yourself loving or hating it.

To bring things full circle, I have now watched and will rate the new Fright Night.

Fright Night - New - Horror

Not nearly as slow and seductive as the first Fright Night. It is shallower in its approach, but still very entertaining. It recreates a few classic scenes from the original, but tries to update it. There are a few references to more recent pop culture, but I don't think they were heavy-handed. Colin Farrell was excellent as Jerry, in some ways even better than the original. David Tennant was very entertaining as Peter Vincent. It's got good music. Characterization could have been deeper, but I don't have any particular complaints beside that. Faster pacing is normally a dark mark in my book, but it worked for this film. And, yes, I'm way over the word count. :P

Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust

Sucker Punch

Even with my low expectations I still didn't find it very entertaining. Cool visuals though.

[email protected] - 2006 - Documentary

It's about a chorus of elders from Northampton, Mass who sing rock & roll type music. Some highlights were I Wanna Be Sedated, Schizophrenia and Fix You. At first I was like what the hell is this, but later I cried a little bit. It was more about facing the end of our lives. The only thing I didn't like was the narrator, but he faded away towards the end.

29th Dec 2011, 5:58 AM
The Fountain
I've seen it before...
It's a beautiful looking movie most of the time. It made me laugh sometimes at how pretentious it is. Like no one has ever thought about life and death before. Like they were looking at it from an angle that has never been perceived. Also like only the most intelligent would understand. It really isn't that deep.

29th Dec 2011, 6:17 AM
The Muppets

Friggin' hilarious. I was so happy to see the franchise revived and I thought they did a fantastic job. Plus, the cameos and music were great (Brett McKenzie wrote some of the music for cripes sake!).

29th Dec 2011, 6:20 AM
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - New

Having not seen the first one, I was pretty lost in the film's plot - luckily I had my girlfriend to fill me in on stuff ;) But anyway, I felt that the movie was paced pretty well, with just the right amount of comedy to balance out all of the action and drama. Some of the acting could have been better, but I digress. It is Hollywood, where looks are more important than skill. :P

Life 2.0 - 2010 - Documentary
I finally saw this. I think I thought it was going to be funny, but it was a little bit sad and thought provoking, and as a Sims player I shouldn't have felt superior. I would have given it an 8, but I gave it a 7 from having to look at the horrible Second Life graphics for over an hour.

4th Apr 2012, 6:14 AM
Spider - 7/10

Quite a dark and depressing film, one of Cronenburg's most impressive. Had Lynch-y elements, too, which I enjoyed.

5th Apr 2012, 3:51 AM
Chronicle - 3/10

Dark, depressing, and didn't bother explaining why one of the kids mums was as sick as she was, or what that thing they found was.

5th Apr 2012, 4:53 AM
I watched this Movie called Sunshine (2007) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448134/) . And even though IMDB gave it a good score....and the review were GOOD . The movie was Boooo-Ring ! All the 'beautiful scene' end up getting me Blind lol and there was just too much that didn't make sense (like the mother computer detecting the astronautes whenver they were , but didn't make a squeak when Crazy dude start killing everyone ) . Muh...it was a fun idea...but I just wish they explained the ending a bit more....
Add to that the beautiful Michelle Yeoh...her role was almost inexistant lol Not fair :faceslap:

IMDB score for this Movie was 7.3/10 . Mine would be 5/10 (and only cose Yeoh was in there :giggler: )

5th Apr 2012, 9:16 AM
Been watching plenty of movies recently, and here are my reviews on them.

The Hunger Games - 8/10

This is probably the first time I'd enjoy an adaptational media rather than the originals- but, really, I think the emotional impact of the characters are stronger in the movies than in the books (which is quite strange). I have an aversion in first-person POVs in general; but it seemed that, like so many other fictions, Katniss's personality is affected by the author's personal views that her characterization becomes inconsistent.

The Lorax - 6/10

Overall the movie isn't that bad, but most of the expanded stuffs decays the message from the original books- including it's induced romance plot tumor and other unfortunate implications that comes with it. Graphics are fine, but a bit too bright and cheery for my tastes.

John Carter - 4/10

Is it just me, or is the plot of this movie a rip-off from Avatar? Anyway, the plot lacks originality, nor any spectacular visual effects (there are some, but not many). Main character is boring- a very typical, invincible hero of the sort who rescues a damsel in distress, and later marries her and yadda yadda. Their half-hearted attempt to subvert this is a major epic fail.

Hugo - 7.5/10

What I like most from this movie is the excessive use of clockwork and steampunk (enhanced with 3D). However, I was quite disappointed with the plot, mainly because it wasn't a fantasy/thriller/action movie like I was hoping, but instead appeals towards a drama/adventure genre. It's a waste of the wonderful clock punk, to use it for a drama setting, IMO. Still, at least the storyline is as cliche as most dramas, so I won't complain too much about it.

Wrath of the Titans- 6/10

While this isn't an outright bad movie, I am quite displeased with how the Greek Myth is messed up here. I know I'm biased in that essence, but I especially don't like it when the roles of the mythological characters are screwed around. I especially dislike the portrayal of the deities in this movie. Plot is too linear, that, in addition to the messed up roles of the deities and mortals, the Greek Myth setting appears to be irrelevant.

The Devil Inside - 0/10 (I'd give a negative score, if it was possible)

Alright. This movie have no plot, no character development, poor camera skills, little to no interaction, no special effects, no eye candy. Really, there's nothing in this movie that I can say a good thing about.

5th Apr 2012, 11:16 AM
The Hunger Games = 9.5/10

Lost the half mark because I think it would be a little hard to understand without reading the book first. Other than that it was great.

16th Apr 2012, 3:45 PM
Factory Girl - Drama - 2006
Edie Sedgwick biopic that I finally got around to seeing. It got bad reviews, but I thought it was okay. I thought Sienna Miller did a great job portraying Edie, and Guy Pearce was fantastic as Andy Warhol. Biopics seem to be very difficult to pull off, but film makers keep trying.

16th Apr 2012, 3:51 PM
The Cabin in the Woods - Horror/Slasher - 2012

I couldn't decide what to rate this - 6 or 7. I won't go into any details or summary since it just came out, and I'm still processing it somewhat because I saw it last night. I think the film has a lot of good parts and interesting ideas, but the parts somehow add up to a less good film overall.

16th Apr 2012, 4:26 PM
God Bless America-a rather disturbing dark comedy. I gave it a 7/10.

4th May 2012, 2:20 PM
40 Days and 40 Nights - comedy/romance/drama 2002
its a good film i have seen it many times, its very funny and good acting too.

The Rules of Attraction - comedy/romance/drama 2002
the film did not make sense and it did not have a good ending but it had some goos camera angle.

5th May 2012, 12:04 PM
Battleship - In Cinemas - Sci-Fi

I liked the effects and all. I just thought the story was a bit cliché hence the score. Nothing new but exciting overall.

5th May 2012, 1:07 PM
Avengers, 10/10. F*ckin' awesome movie. I'm not usually a fan of action movies and superheroes and whatnot, but this one was awesome sauce. I loved it to the bits *cough*alsorobertdowneyjrrobertdowneyjr*cough*.

5th May 2012, 3:20 PM
Harry Potter 7 pt. 2

The visuals were amazing, they stuck as close to the book as a movie can, and the actors were amazing (as always). I took off the half mark because I think they could've expanded on the ending/epiloque more, and because I feel that they could have done a better job with either aging the characters at the end, or at least they could have changed actors.

5th May 2012, 4:16 PM

I have to say I think it was the best super hero movie made to date. I just wish they could have worked in one or two of the X-Men

It was cute! :p

10th May 2012, 6:41 AM
The Avengers

Alright, people are going to kill me for not giving this movie a near-perfect score; but really, the Hollywood needs to put more effort in developing the storyline and scripts, rather than just counting on the shiny special effects, good-looking characters, explosions and destruction, and corny jokes to be their selling points

Avengers (2012)

It was very funny, very good, but there was something I didn't like. I'm not going to spoil it for you, but once you go watch it, you'll soon find out. It's gonna remind you of a movie back in 2011.

15th May 2012, 2:16 PM
The Woman.

It was okay, nothing special. It had terrible background music.

15th May 2012, 2:47 PM
The Avengers 9/10
Cool movie.
Loved the part where Hulk screams and Iron Man wakes up.

19th May 2012, 7:28 AM
Dark Shadows - 2012
It starts out and it's slightly comical, mixed with violent moments. But as it goes along the comical goes away and it's just ridiculous. Johnny Depp is somewhat amusing as Barnabas Collins ('Fear not, drunkard.) ; Michelle Pfeiffer is competent, Eva Green is terrible. Of course H Bonham Carter is in it and is also terrible in a pointless role. I give it a 4 because I only had mild urges to get up and leave.

Infamous - Drama - 2006
This film covers the same material as Capote. I didn't like Capote; I thought this was a lot better. Toby Jones is fantastic as TC; I guess that means he should've won the Oscar that year. Sandra Bullock is really good as Harper Lee. Daniel Craig plays Perry Whatever His Last Name Was, one of the murderers. Also a great performance.

22nd May 2012, 3:00 AM
Apollo 18
5.5 or 6 (being a bit generous) /10

I'll admit that they did do good when it came to setting up the atmosphere and suspense, and did at least a decent job of making you care about the characters, and they seemed to put a good amount of effort into making it seem as authentic as possible. Truth be told, there was really only one major problem with the movie. Unfortunately, it was such a huge, glaring problem that it sunk the entire ship. What was it?
It had the single. Worst. Alien monster concept. EVER.

What could have been so bad about it?
Rocks. The evil killer aliens were fucking ROCKS. Some of the moon rocks (which "felt strange" when the astronauts picked them up) were really alien creatures. Apparently they could unfold into these scorpion-like things which could burrow inside of you, which wasn't bad, but it was severely underutilized, and they had them staying as rocks most of the time, so they more-or-less spent 90% of their "monster time" trying to freak you out with a piece of inanimate stone. Might as well have just showed you this every time.
http://mw2.google.com/mw-panoramio/photos/medium/27986380.jpg :|
They would do a good job of building up atmosphere and suspense, only to kill it by trying to freak you out with a goddamned rock. :faceslap:
It was so bad you wanted it to be funny, but it was too awkward to really laugh at.

10th Jun 2012, 8:30 PM
Prometheus - 2012 - SciFi

It was okay. Michael Fassbender was good as the android, David. (The spaceship is strangely spacious with plenty of gravity, even though you can't see how they're making it.And that's just the start of the inexplicable happenings.)

10th Jun 2012, 8:33 PM
Vertigo - Alfred Hitchcock - Suspense...of sorts?

I'd give it an 8/10. Granted, I slept through portions of it, but the parts I saw weren't as Afredy Hitchcokian as I would have liked. Still, overall, it was an interesting film and I enjoyed the several and various vertigo-inspired camera shots throughout the film.

11th Jun 2012, 9:42 AM

I'd always heard that it's usually women who are the ones who hate it. *shrug*

MegaMind -2010 - animation/comedy

It was funny and kind of cute, but without the stuff that people seem to find annoying in the Shrek movies. It really is a pretty fun movie.

Lion King 2 Simba's Pride.
Reason being is that after coming to the disturbing realization that if following the rules of a lion pride, Simba and Nala are actually brother and sister  ...disturbing and a little twisted if you ask me...but then again I doubt that the audiance it was meant for would think of such details...

Prometheus - 2012 - SciFi

I really liked it, but it just felt like the start of the story and left too many unanswered questions. Think I would have preferred to wait for a sequel and watched them together.

It only had a few stupid illogical bits in it. I found it a little strange that they were sent on a trillion dollar space mission but had to wear bandages instead of underwear!

I loved it! It's one of those films I stick on for the kids but never properly watch. I actually got to watch it last night and it was fun and quirky with all the charm I expect from Pixar :)

I don't think I'll ever watch that stupid movie. Sorry. I've watched Hollywood just keep messing up Comic Books to make into movies. Spider-man sucked, Superman sucked, Thor sucked, Ironman was decent.

But every movie that was made from a comic book, they always mess it up. And for some reason filmmakers in the USA, can't remake a movie to save their life. For instance the Japanese horror films they try to remake, suck.

ANYWAY, excuse the rant.

People may disagree with me. But damn, that movie was awesome. That girl was a kick ass assassin. I loved when she supposedly killed Marissa but it was her double. Just the look on her face, was priceless. But there is a lot of action in the film. I am telling you, Hanna was kick ass. I've seen it at least...20 times now.

Oh I don't know about that! 300, Sin City and Watchmen were all kick ass films!

So I don't break the thead.....

A great little unique short that carries a good message (which is cut out of the youtube link) but even without the message it's an original idea with great execution.

War of the Words 2: The Second Wave ( SyFy )

The aliens come back in their mothership, which houses a squadron of spore fighters. George ( protagonist ) and Pete ( Pete is played by Kid from Kid 'n Play ), who passes out at the sight of blood, escape from the mothership and play around an empty town doing stuff. The two guys run into a sick man and his sick-ish daughter who seems on her way to becoming a zombie. The sick man is sick with a sickness that the aliens can't deal with, and the daughter survived all their experiments. This is what we learn from them: The aliens have captured many people and are homogenizing their blood, which somehow makes it fit to consume by destroying the microorganisms inside, so that they can drink it. So George sticks a needle in the sick man and injects sick blood into himself. Then George and Pete go find a damaged alien tripod and get inside it. There is some floating pod in there that all alien vessels have and they are all attached somehow. So Pete injects it with sicky blood, which transmits to all alien vessels, and all the aliens die. Three months later, Pete and George and son are having a bbq and alien talking is heard on the radio, suggesting that War of the Worlds 3 be made.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Hell yes, just an amazing movie. Love the music. And Tim Curry, just made the best freaking Transvestite. And Susan Sarandon did such an amazing job. LOVE LOVE IT!

Picnic at Hanging Rock
Peter Weir 1975

A magnificent film, as simple as can be, as complicated as can be, as impenetrable as the Rock itself.

I haven't watched it for a long time but it hasn't aged a bit; obviously timeless as well.

Pan's Labryinth 9.5/10

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

I thought this movie would be horrible, but it's not! The axe swinging scenes are great, however, things happen out of nowhere and key elements to the plot seem to just pop up randomly.

The Ring

I had never been brave enough to watch it! But didn't actually find it that scary, and enjoyed the storyline!

Brave - 9/10

Definitely not what I was expecting, based on the trailers, but still really really good! The art is absolutely amazing, Pixar has outdone themselves creating magnificent visuals. Funny and charming.

Brave 9.5/10
I gave it a nine and a half out of ten because I loved the storyline, parts of it made me laugh, parts of it made me cry, the acting was great and Merida didn't have to end up with a prince! :D My mom (who has been to Scotland) said that the opening scenes when it shows the landscape look exactly like Scotland. My only complaint was that Merida did seem a bit whiny at times (and the fact that corsets weren't around at that time period) but those were very small things I noticed. Overall, I can't wait for the dvd to come out so I can watch it again!

Pariah - 2011 - Drama
It's about a gay African American teenager in Brooklyn with an unpleasant, religious, homophobic mother. Great performances, great script. The cinematography is nice - a lot of golden light.

I saw Brave last night...

Well, either it didn't have a good plot or I didn't understand the depth of it, in my opinion. It was just that Merida was seeming to be pretty... what's the word... I don't know, maybe a little demanding and annoying in the beginning, and it seemed like through the duration of the story, she didn't change nearly as much as she should've. She was still a little cowardly, except maybe slightly less in the end. (which totally contradicts with the name of the story...) After seeing the good reviews everywhere, I really expected more. She just got what she wanted in the end. That's all.

and I thought there should have been more to the story about the 4th king who turned into a bear, I thought he would finally be nice to Merida and give her advice.. or something. He just tried to kill her and that was the end of it. Then they saw his ghost. And why did the wisps lead them to the bear anyway? That made no sense to me.

So I think I will give it a 6/10.

Moonrise Kingdom - 2012 - Dramedy?
I didn't like it, but if you like Wes Anderson films, you might. I guess it's getting good reviews. I'm not going to rate it because I fell asleep about half way through and every now and then I'd have moments of consciousness, and then go back to sleep. I wished I could leave almost from the start - it had a forced quality. I liked Rushmore and that was the last Wes Anderson film I liked. The cinematography was good - super 8? - it definitely had a color feel like snapshots of that era.

Men In Black 3 - 8/10

Yes, I enjoyed this movie more than I have enjoyed watching the Avengers. Problem?

(And when I think about it, giving Avengers a 7.5 is too lenient. Should've given it 6.5 at most :| )

Oh I don't know about that! 300, Sin City and Watchmen were all kick ass films!

Well, that's YMMV. I don't want to start a debate about comic-book based movie adaptation, but just because you say it's kick ass, doesn't mean it applies for others (who may think those movies you mentioned are worthless crap. I haven't watched any of them, so I say no comment).

Love My Life

I am sucker for lovey dovey movies. I am more of a sucker if it is based on a Yuri (GirlxGirl Anime/Manga). And that is what Love My Life is. It is such a cute movie. I loved every moment of it. Eri is in love with Ichiko, and vice versa. And Eri would do anything for Ichiko, and vice versa. Some cute scenes, and of course there are some sad scenes. Why did I rate this a 10?

Because finally I can say there is a decent love movie between two girls. I know there are more out there. But I think this is my number 1 choice ^.^

The most recent movie I saw was The Last Airbender...
I though this movie did not do justice to the tv series at all. And being a huge Avatar fan, I was horribly disappointed.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Should have been the fun, asskicking massacre we wanted. Instead tried to be real and failed, but succeeded in killing my wallet and time.

8th Jul 2012, 7:38 AM

I love that movie!

I really liked this movie, but some of it was just a bit too 'seen it before' for me.

8th Jul 2012, 10:06 PM
I saw Brave and Moonrise Kingdom last week.

Brave was, to me, just OK. It's been a long, LONG time since I've seen a movie in 3D (I don't often see movies in theaters, preferring to wait for the DVD), so that was interesting to me. But the movie itself was, to me, nothing special. It was certainly (a lot) less than I've come to expect from Pixar. (Up is one of my favorite movies, period.) I just couldn't connect with the heroine; she annoyed me more than anything. However, I did like her mother in both, um, incarnations. But overall the movie was just a timefiller to me. I think I actually liked the short before it better than I liked the movie! As far as ratings...Meh. 5/10

I loved Moonrise Kingdom, though. But that's not surprising because, if it's a Wes Anderson movie, I'm pretty much guaranteed to at least like it, if not love it. But in this case, I was very impressed with the kid actors, mostly because they didn't come across as Standard Hollywood Kid Actors (TM) and felt more like real people, for all that the characters they played were VERY dysfunctional. I was also impressed with the very low-key Bruce Willis; I've always liked him. And a similarly low-key Bill Murray, too. I think I actually like him better when he's being more serious than comedic. :) The cinematography was just wonderful, too. Great film, IMO. :) Rating: Loved it. 9.5/10, the half-point removed for what was, to me, very pointless doggie bloodshed. :(

9th Jul 2012, 2:36 AM
I recently saw Chronicle. I'm giving it a 5/10, and that's being generous. I was somewhat excited by the trailer, but the movie really failed to deliver. There was no plot other than "Teens get super powers; shit happens", and that really disappointed me. The special effects were okay, but the only character that I could relate to, the main character, Andrew, turns into the antagonist.

The Woodmans - 2010 - Documentary
It's about a photographer I like a lot - Francesca Woodman - and her family. I thought it was excellent - about the life of the artist and the mysteries of life and death.

The new spiderman...

I loved this because it had a plot I could keep up with while still being really intriguing. Something my mom pointed out about it that I completely agree with is that in the movie, none of the good guys or the bad guys were completely and totally "good" or "bad". They all did some bad stuff and some good stuff. It was realistic in that sense and I liked that. I didn't even notice or mind the length of the movie (2.5 hours) because I was very into it the whole way through. Good job Hollywood!

(Also, Andrew Garfield is sooo hot! :lovestruc )

It lost 0.5 because... I don't know, it's got to be a movie that really went off the scale and then above and beyond, and then above that for me to give it a 10... I'm a critic in that sense.

9th Jul 2012, 4:50 AM
Brave 9/10. I love how it's about mother/daughter relationship and I can totally relate to Merida, we're similar in a lot of ways and I just can't believe how Elinor is just like my mom. It's like they made the movie just for me. It really hits home. The only animated movie that has ever had. Scratch that, it's the only movie that has ever had.

The Amazing Spiderman 8/10. Andrew Garfield isn't that attractive to me but overall it's pretty good. Not the best though.

10th Jul 2012, 6:14 PM
Avengers... 10/10
Just amazing, The only bad part was my mom drooling all over Thor the whole time.
Men In Black 3... 8/10
Could've had a better intro but all of that story stuff and the end. OH GOD T_ T
It is good, And I do recommend seeing it, Just not at a drive-thru that you're going to be at until 2 in the morning!

11th Jul 2012, 3:30 PM
The Amazing Spiderman - 7/10

Much better than the original trilogy, IMO. At least Peter isn't a dorky loser like the the previous Spiderman; he's still a nerdy genius but his also confident and sarcastic personality makes him seem less of a failure. And the leading lady (Gwen Stacey) isn't some sort of Damsel in distress whose only impact to the plot is to be kidnapped by the bad guy and get saved by the hero.

12th Jul 2012, 2:23 PM
Mean Girls 2.
0/10, and I'm not even kidding.
If you are a big Mean Girls fan like me, don't ever watch this movie. Actually, do, so you realize how great the first one is.
This one is so corny and children-aimed that it's almost grotesque. The worst words said were "testosterone" and "virgin".
It's pure blasphemy, I'm not surprised it was one of the biggest flops of 2011.

Sucker Punch.
Ok this is one of my favorite movies of all times, even though it's almost unknown to everyone. It came out in April 2011 and it's pure, concentrate, glossy eye candy.
The cast is great, the soundtrack is amazing, the visual effects are Oscar-worthy. It wasn't very successful because the storyline (even though it's nice!) wasn't as good as the technical side of the movie, but I adored it. I saw it in the theater and bought the DVD the day it came out. If you're looking for an action movie with girls fighting, in a '50s mental house/high-end brothel atmosphere, and you like samurais, dragons, robots and WWII nazi wastelands, this movie is for you.

12th Jul 2012, 5:51 PM
^ I liked Sucker Punch too - I loved the production design. I'm not sure but I think a lot of people said they hated it without ever having seen it. I liked it more than Moonrise Kingdom.

13th Jul 2012, 12:46 AM
Dirty Girl.

I'm really surprised how much I liked this movie. I thought it would be a comedy, a sort of stereotypical high school set up, but it was actually really touching; I almost cried! And it's amazing how a bag of flour can be so cute.

13th Jul 2012, 10:38 AM
I saw "Sleeper" on Netflix. A '70s Woody Allen film.

WTF / 10.

I know its a double post i am sorry
These are the films i have seen this week.

A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song - 5/10
It was a good film with a good storylike,it was a typical disney kind of films.there was good music and singers in it,Lucy Hale has a really good singer voice and i am very happy she got to sing in this movie.

Labor Pains - 5/10
the film was funny in parts.i think they could of done some thing diffrent to make it better, the acting was ok but would of chose i diffrent female lead.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 - 2/10
the film went on for a very long time and it did not really hold my attention,i think they could of cut some stuff out, this film is not as good as the first couple of Harry Potter films,i enjoyed the special effects they where my favourite part.i love the Harry Potter films but each films got more boring then the next.

Harlem Hostel - 1/10
was rubbish i had to force myself to watch it,it got boring in the first 10 mins.

Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer - 5/10
i love the Fantastic 4 movies the first one was my favourite, this one was good and it held up to the first movie but was not as great, and it had less funny bits in it.

The Love Guru - 3/10
was good and funny but would not watch it again, they could of made somethings to make it better.

Thunderbirds(2004) - 4/10
this film was not as good as the old ones but it does still stand on its own.it was good but i would not watch it again because it does get abit boring.

The Tourist - 4/10
i only watched this film because it had Angelina jolie,it was not her best film or her best actings,it had a very nice plot too it and some great racing scenes in it.

Geek Charming - 5/10
typical disney movie but i found myself enjoying it,a good storyline and the ending was better then i thought it would be and it was sweet.

Unspoken - 6/10
this is a short film only around 15mins long but i wish it was a long film that would be shown in cinema's.i enjoyed watching it and i did not want it to end, they handled everything great and a great plot too and the acting was better then i thought it would have been i would watch it forever.

Scary Movie 4 - 4/10
i found myself laughting from the start, these kind of films i cant watch again because they wont be as funny.but i do hope they keep making those movies.

Devil - 4/10
this was a good movie i have never watched a horror film that revoles around a elevator.i like how the day keep going back and they try to figure out who the killer was,i guessed who the killer was from the start but i liked the way the people where killed and the special effects make up was very good and not corny at all.

The Da Vinci Code - 1/10
if i could i would rate it zero,it was rubbish and boring and went on for too long, the storyline was rubbish and the acting was bad.i would not recommend this movie to anyone.

24th Jul 2012, 5:53 AM
London Boulevard - 2010 - Drama
The story is cliché - man gets out of a prison and tries to go straight. It's a good B movie with a stellar cast - Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley, David Thewlis, Ray Winstone.

24th Jul 2012, 6:39 AM
"The Da Vinci Code" (Not only is this the last movie I've really watched, but, I feel the need to give a more in depth review than that above me - I know it's supposed to be kept short, but, if we're going to review, people should get some kind of substantial idea and I, unfortunately, have never been good at keeping it short).

8/10 - I've just purchased the book (as I was just able to get my hands on a fairly decent copy), so, I don't know how much I would have liked the movie had I read the book (which I'm planning to do just as soon as I make my way through the "Left Behind" series), but, as for the movie:

- It's got Tom Hanks. I'm being completely biased, and the movie probably got 5 points from me merely on his role, because, I love Tom Hanks. He's always been a fabulous actor, and, no matter what role you stick him in, he does great.
- Great production. Doesn't surprise me, as Brian Grazer and Ron Howard were involved, but, I especially liked the production aspect of it all. Clean-cut presentation.
- It got a bit confusing at times. I pride myself in being able to keep up with the up keep in most situations (that could just be the Gemini in me), so, I don't appreciate being out of the loop, even for a few seconds, which I was a few times throughout the movie. Though, I'm sure it wouldn't have happened had I read the book, but, this is based solely on the movie.
- Great story line. Yes, it was long, and yes, it was daunting at times, but, when I did understand it, I was able to follow it, and, it kept me intrigued the entire time. This following statement is not at all being said to insult the above reviewer, but, it takes thought to watch. We all have some movies we like to just plug in just to have a good time or watch mindlessly to blow some time off, but, this isn't one of them.
- Strategic Line Placement. Any good writer/director/whoever does it knows just when to have the Comedic Relief come in and I thought they did a fantastic job with this movie. It kept the moments light without making them hilarious - which would have not only been grotesquely out of place, but, distracted from the whole purpose of the film.
- It made you think. I think that was one of my favorite parts; I'm really into religious studies, so, I, of course, had to buy "Breaking the Da Vinci Code" with the aforementioned book, because I imagine if the movie had me thinking "Well, what if Mary was married to Jesus? What if we got that wrong?", the book would be so much more intriguing. I had to get both view points of everything.

24th Jul 2012, 9:06 AM
The Dark Knight Rises - 8/10

Okay, while Nolan's directing is excellent as always, I do not appreciate having Catwoman stealing most of the action spotlight when this is supposed to be a Batman movie. Wayne himself spends too much time of the movie angsting, though he did get over it. Love the fact that a lot of the cast from Inception here... Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy... Too bad there was no Ellen Page

24th Jul 2012, 9:47 AM
I *just* watched Catfish.
I give it a 7.5/10. It's certainly an intriguing look at online dating/relationships - and even if it might be a fake documentary, it was still pretty darn good.

25th Jul 2012, 8:24 PM
Here are the films i have watched this week so far (i am not writting much because i dont want to give away the storyline to people who have not seen it)

Teeth - 5/10
This film is about a girl who has teeth in her lady parts and it keeps her safe from guys who are trying to take advantage of her. This film was good and i thought bits of it where very funny and the whole plot of the story really goes well with the story and i think it would speak to some people but without the teeth ofcourse.

The Watermen - 3/10
This film is about a group of watermen who find a group of people and torturn and kill them really.I got told this film was good and intrested so i watched it and not much really happends,i was expecting something great to happen and it never did so i was kind of disapointed.i usally laugh and horror/gore films and this one did not make me laugh or freak out at all.bad storyline too.

Deadgirl - 2/10
Two high school boys discover an imprisoned woman in an abandoned mental asylum who cannot die. This film sounded great but it was very disapointing and not much intrested happend and the acting was not up to par either.

Stick It - 7/10
After a run-in with the law,a girl is forced to return to the world from which she fled some years ago. Enrolled in an elite gymnastics program, the girl rebellious attitude gives way to something that just might be called team spirit. This film is one of the best films i have seen in some time,it is funny and shows true spirt.a great storyline and acting too,i would watch this film again. The gymnastics where great and the ending just made me very happy.

Rumor Has It - 5/10
a woman who learns that her family was the inspiration for the book and film "The Graduate" and that she just might be the offspring of the well-documented event. This film is avange but very funny,i dont really have much to say about this film but i would watch it again.

Raising Helen - 6/10
After her sister and brother-in-law die in a car accident, a young woman becomes the guardian of their three children. Its and funny and a heart touching tale and it made me cry.

Unstoppable - 4/10
With an unmanned, half-mile-long freight train barreling toward a city, a veteran engineer and a young conductor race against the clock to prevent a catastrophe. This film did bore me abit but i liked the ending.

The Lorax - 6/10
A 12-year-old boy searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world. This is about a young boy who go in search of a tree to win the heart of the girl he wants, along the way he learns why all the tree's are gone and he get to meet the cute and love animals.some good musical numbers in it and the ending is lovely and throughout the film is funnny and made me laugh.

Ella Enchanted - 5/10
Ella is under a spell to be constantly obedient, a fact she must hide from her new step-family in order to protect the prince of the land, her friend for whom she's falling.a great funny film, children and adults will enjoy alike and some great musical numbers in it too.

Snow White and the Huntsman - 5/10
In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen.I love the special effects,i had to watch it over 2 days because it went on for over 2 hours.i hope they make a number 2 because they left it kind of on a clifthanger.

Fly Away Home - 6/10
A father and daughter decide to attempt to lead a flock of orphaned Canada Geese south by air.i love this film it reminds me so much of my childhood and i have watched it so many times i would recomand this film to people,it is funny and heart touching.

LOL - 2/10
As a new year at school begins, Lola's heart is broken by her boyfriend, though soon she's surprised by her best friend, promising musician Kyle, who reveals his feelings for her.it was not that good at all the storyline was ok but the way they went about it was rubbish,my favourite part was when they had clips of them falling in love to music that is the only good part in the film.

30th Jul 2012, 12:49 AM
The Dark Knight Rises - 2012 - Super Hero

I liked this a lot. Usually I hate the blue filter, but despite that, this film has a great look. And great direction. Also this film has a lot of Christian Bale out of the bat suit, so if you enjoy looking at Christian Bale, you're in luck. See it on the big screen if you can.

30th Jul 2012, 2:07 AM
Funny Face (1957) - Musical/Romance

There's no doubt that Audrey looked stunning and Fred Astaire's dancing was top notch, as always. But there was no chemistry between them whatsoever and no reason why I thought they might like each other. Scenery is fantastic, though, and a pretty decent spoof of the fashion industry for its time.

30th Jul 2012, 4:27 AM
Cruel Intentions - 10 / 10

I love this movie! :D

30th Jul 2012, 1:35 PM
The Dark Knight Rises (2012) - Superhero

∞ / 10

I was glued to every bit of this. You don't even notice how long the film is because there isn't any part that is dragged out. I had a full bag of Doritos to eat, and I didn't even open them because I was busy watching the movie!

5th Aug 2012, 10:09 AM
There are the films i have watched this week.

A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story - 7/10
The true story of Gwen Araujo, a young transgendered woman who was brutally murdered by four men in 2002. It was a very movie and touching story,it shows what the family goes through and what the child has to deal with while growing up in the wrong body.this is a true story and i did not know that till the end and Gwens mom is helping to fight the rights of trans peole everywhere.

Chalet Girl - 4/10
It's clichéd and completely predictable at every moment. Whether or not this will bother you or not is entirely down to your tolerance for the romantic-comedy genre. I personally would classify it as a perfectly watchable movie.

Gray Matters - 6/10
They finish each other's sentences, dance like Fred and Ginger, and share the same downtown loft--the perfect couple? Not exactly. Gray and Sam, are a sister and brother so compatible and inseparable that people actually assume they are dating. Mortified, they both agree they must branch out and start searching for love. This is your not normal lesbian film at all it did not follow the normal storyline which is good,It a story about a girl named Gray who discovers her sexuality you see her go through the transition and she falls in love with her brothers wife.it is a film i would so watch again.

21 Jump Street - 6/10
A pair of underachieving cops are sent back to a local high school to blend in and bring down a synthetic drug ring. its a very funny films and i laughted alot of the way through it and it speaks for itself really thats all i could say.

Water Lilies - 6/10
Summer in a new suburb outside Paris. Nothing to do but look at the ceiling. Marie, Anne and Floriane are 15. Their paths cross in the corridors at the local swimming pool, where love and desire make a sudden, dramatic appearance.a very captivating film about the discovery of sexuality by three teenage girls. The magic of the movie lies in its capacity to bring back many memories to how it felt like to be their age.The music is perfect and the acting is amazing. The camera works beautifully also.

Because I Said So - 5/10
A meddling mother tries to set her daughter up with the right man so her kid won't follow in her footsteps.a funny and cute film about a mother medding in her youngest daughters life,it was very predictable but worth watching because it was funny and cute.

Center Stage: Turn It Up - 4/10
this film was not as good as the first one the acting was ok but it was predictable,it is about a young girl who's dream is to go to the american ballet school. The ending was still cute even through i saw it coming.

Make It Happen - 5/10
Embarking on a journey to fulfill her dreams as a dancer, a young girl discovers a new style of dance that will prove to be the source of both conflict and self-discovery. i love dance films and have found they mostly have the same storyline this one included, apart from that i enjoyed this film i have watched it so many times.

8th Aug 2012, 9:01 PM
Mirror Mirror - 7/10

Dramatisation of Snow White. Acting, script and costume all a bit meh, but good, entertaining and a happy ending. Perfect for a lazy Saturday afternoon

^ i have seen mirror mirror and i rated it before i thought the same thing as u,but i did not really like the ending part.

These are the films i have seen this week.

Tomboy - 6/10
A 10-year-old girl, settling into her new neighborhood outside Paris, is mistaken for a boy and has to live up to this new identity since it's too late for the mistake to be clarified. Its a very touching tale about a 10 year old girl who sercretly wants to be a boy and trys everything she can to be that.the reaction on her mother was very touching and it shows how sweet and inocent children can be,it had me hooked all the way through.

Wrong Turn - 5/10
Six people find themselves trapped in the woods of West Virginia, hunted down by "cannibalistic mountain men grossly disfigured through generations of in-breeding." It was an ok horror film it reminds me abit of The Hills Have Eyes.It was funny in parts but none of the deaths made me laugh and i was not shocked or anything about this film,it is a good film to watch to pass the time. (by the way i love horror films and the best ones make me laugh at the deaths)

Show Me Love - 6/10
Two teenage girls in small-town Sweden. Elin is beautiful, popular, and bored with life. Agnes is friendless, sad, and secretly in love with Elin. Its a sweet story about two young girls discovering there sexuality and all the things they have to go through,it made me smile and the ending was so sweet. Also it shows how teenage life can be.

Your Highness - 3/10
When Prince Fabious's bride is kidnapped, he goes on a quest to rescue her... accompanied by his lazy useless brother Thadeous.I thought it was quiet a boring feel and the only reason i rated it so high was because Natalie Portmen was in it,she was the best part of the film.

TED - 7/10
As the result of a childhood wish, John Bennett's teddy bear, Ted, came to life and has been by John's side ever since - a friendship that's tested when Lori, John's girlfriend of four years, wants more from their relationship. It is a funny story about a guys relationship with his teddy and how that effects his life,it had me laughing and smiling and shouting at my screen,i would have rated it higher but i found the voice of Ted annoying.

The Truth About Jane - 7/10
Jane, a high school teenager, tries to deal with the discovery that she is a lesbian after developing an intense friendship with another girl who makes her discover her true sexuality. This film shows what lesbians and gays have to go through and how some people hate them and would not even allow them to have certain jobs,it shows how a young girl falls for her friend and how that effects her family life and her relationship with her so called friend and it shows how some people can be caring.

Avengers Assemble - 6/10
Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. brings together a team of super humans to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from Loki and his army. This was a good film i loved the graphics,it did go on for along time but it did keep my attention.i loved the little one liners that made me laugh.

The Dark Knight Rises

It was better than I was expecting. As much of a Batman dork as I am, I wasn't a huge fan of the previous Nolan films, but I liked this one much better. It's still got some problems, though. The actions sequences are boring, and there isn't really anything to break up the constant tension. There's always something going on, and it's an almost 3 hour long movie! The implications of the actions and opinions of the protagonists are somewhat worrying. But the movie does a great job at pulling together the trilogy and tying up loose ends. This makes it fairly epic, and somewhat satisfying.

13th Aug 2012, 7:39 AM
"Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection"

5/10 - It was just wasn't as funny as it could of been and the plot wasn't that great either. It had a few funny moments, but most of the movie was a snooze-fest.

4/10 - It was funny for the first half of the movie, but after that, the movie just took a wrong turn. What could of been a great comedy movie, was destroyed by a shitload of unnecessary drama.

17th Aug 2012, 9:33 PM
"Nightmare on Elm Street 4: Dream Master"

7/10 - I liked the new characters of the film, and the inner struggle of the new final girl, but Freddy is overkilling it with his comedy.

The Films Since The Last Time I Posted

But I'm A Cheerleader (1999) - 7/10
A naive teenager is sent to rehab camp when her straitlaced parents and friends suspect her of being a lesbian. This was a very cute and funny tale of where a teen girl finds out who she really is and who she really loves,I could not help smile at the ending and laugh through the film.

The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love (1995) - 6/10
An adventurous love story between two young women of different social and economic backgrounds who find themselves going through all the typical struggles of a new romance.I thought i would not enjoy this film but i really did,it shows how love can change people and make them better and there love is so sweet and pure and how they over come it all.It kinda reminds me abit of my love life.

Brave (2012) - 7/10
Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse. This was funny which i was not expecting at all and it looks real but fariytale like at the same time. It shows how a mother can really love her daughter no matter what and shows the working of the family in some funny ways.

Mom at Sixteen (2005) - 6/10
Pregnant sixteen year old Jacey's well-meaning mother forces her to keep the birth a secret and decides to raise the baby as her own.I have always liked this film and the first time i watched it it made me cry and smile both at the ending.

And Soon the Darkness (2010) - 6/10
When two American girls on a bike trip in a remote part of Argentina split up and one of them goes missing, the other must find her before her worst fears are realized. This film was abit boring in part but was overall it was good and i liked guessing who the kidnapper was and i was right.

The Cabin in the Woods (2011) - 6/10
Five friends go for a break at a remote cabin in the woods, where they get more than they bargained for. Together, they must discover the truth behind the cabin in the woods. The concept of the film was good but the overall film was ok but i would not watch it again because the ending was not good.but i liked the only bloody bit in it.I think they could of changed a few bit to make it more intresting.

The Hunters (2011) - 2/10
A new police officer wants to meet up with somebody in an abandoned fort in the woods. What he doesn't know is that the place also serves as a meeting point for a group of hunters - whose prey aren't animals. The only reason i watch this film in because it had one of my favourite actresses in it but overall the film was very disappointing, nothing really happends and the script was boring i thought the plot would have been good but it was not.

26th Aug 2012, 12:16 PM
I don't watch many movies. It takes a lot to convince me to sit down and watch however - I did go see the Batman Dark Knight Rises - I liked it better than the original Dark Knight so I'd give it an 8.

I also found my old childhood favorite movie, the Neverending Story, which I would rate about the same, not because it was 'amazing' but because it made me feel like a child again, and I will always and forever adore the movie I used to watch over and over and over again when I came home from elementary school.

White Hunters

This is a movie outside of Hollywood experience. It succeeds in being what it is, which is funny, but is also unintentionally hilarious many times. So if you've never seen a Nollywood movie before then it's good to start here.

Starting from 10:
-1 for being so pretentious
-1 for not really being specifically about being a hunter searching for white meat like the theme song implies, but more about gold-digging any rich man who isn't black
+1 for no profanity / nudity
-1 again for being so pretentious
-1 for being so gloriously bad
+1 for theme song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcv93XNN8mY
Final Rating: 8/10

31st Aug 2012, 8:08 AM
Brave 9/10

What can I say? Realistically flawed characters, funny interactions, great show of Archery technique, and most importantly, the impressively amazing animation renders.

31st Aug 2012, 1:00 PM
I watched "Mirror Mirror" yesturday, and I can honestly say it was the worst film I've ever seen. First of all, the actors were increadibly insincere. Snow White was a classic "damsel in distress" who 'surprises' everyone by becoming a 'warrior' (yes, all the quotation marks are nesessary)
Secondly, her eyebrows were so huge that I couldn't keep my eyes off of them.

The film was so extremely un-original that I just wanted to tear my eyes out. Poor comedy, bad actors and a weird Bollywood dance at the end awards "Mirror Mirror" a -1/10

The Fellowship of the Ring & The Two Towers (extended version)

∞ /10

Watched the extended versions of the first two parts of the LOTR trilogy. It was pure epic in term of characters, plot and visuals. Although some of the fantasy background looks like it's painted on a screen, the beauty is so astounding that not even modern movies, with their improved technology and visual effects, can surpass it.

Circumstance - Drama - 2011

Very good film about 2 teenage girls in Tehran who run afoul of the morality police. It was hard to watch though and made me feel a lot of rage.

The Rain People - Drama - 1969
Early film of Francis Ford Coppola. A Long Island woman, feeling trapped by her pregnancy, drives away from her marriage, and heads across country. There's a lot about this film that's brilliant. Not knowing what she wants, Natalie Ravenna finds herself enmeshed in the lives of 2 men she randomly encounters. Great performances by Shirley Knight, James Caan and Robert Duvall.

15th Sep 2012, 11:46 AM
Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) - 6/10
A worldwide epidemic encourages a biotech company to launch an organ-financing program similar in nature to a standard car loan. The repossession clause is a killer, however. Its not your normal musical it was dark and had some gore in it,i enjoyed watching it and it had some great songs and the storyline and acting where great.

Boot Camp (2008) - 7/10
A group of at-risk teens are sent to a what they think is a rehabilitation program on Fiji, but it's really a prison-like camp where kids are abused and brainwashed. I watched this film because it had my favourite actress in it but i thought it was going to be rubbish but it was not it was great and it was very touching and i cant believe things like this really happen,i enjoyed it so much i really want to watch it again the storyline was great and great acting to,i could not fault it.

What to Expect When You're Expecting (2012) - 7/10
A look at love through the eyes of five interconnected couples experiencing the thrills and surprises of having a baby, and ultimately coming to understand the universal truth that no matter what you plan for, life doesn't always deliver what's expected. i was expecting this film to be better and funnier because of all the hype, but i must say it was a good film and it did have some funny parts in it but there are some things i would have changed but overall it was an enjoyable film.

Ma vie en rose (1997) - 8/10
Ludovic is a small boy who cross-dresses and generally acts like a girl, talks of marrying his neighbor's son and can not understand why everyone is so surprised about it. His actions lead to problems for him and his family. this film touched my heart i felt so bad for hows his parents treated him because he was really was a girl, the acting and storyline was great and the boy who played Ludovic played him so well and made me believe every moment,it was such a great film.

The Loved Ones (2009) - 4/10
When Brent turns down his classmate Lola's invitation to the prom, she concocts a wildly violent plan for revenge. this film was meant to be scary and really good but i found it really disapointing, the acting was not good at all, when Lola tried to be evil or scary she was not they way she acted just made me laugh, the plot of the film was a great idea but they way they done it could have been way better, but its one of those films u would just watch and laugh at how not scary or good it is.

Empty Sky (2011) - 5/10
Brought together by music, two high school girls, Samantha and Taylor, begin a secret romantic affair. But when Taylor?s mom corners the girls, Taylor seems unwilling to protect the relationship, leaving Samantha to decide if it is worth her heartache to preserve it as she leaves for college. this film was so good and the storyline was great and so was the acting i would have rated it higher if it was longer because it was only 9 mins long i think they should make this into a long film.

Girl in Progress (2012) - 5/10
As single mom Grace juggles work, bills, and her affair with a married doctor, her daughter, Ansiedad, plots a shortcut to adulthood after finding inspiration in the coming-of-age stories she's reading for school. i dont have much to say about this film it was good and everything but there is something about it which makes me not to want to rate it higher but it was a good film.

Katy Perry: Part of Me (2012) - 6/10
A documentary that chronicles Katy Perry's life on and off-stage. it was a great look into her life i enjoyed watching it and u get to see how she really is and how her life effects her.

August Rush (2007) - 7/10
A drama with fairy tale elements, where an orphaned musical prodigy uses his gift as a clue to finding his birth parents. i loved this film so much great storyline and acting, i would have rated it higher but i found it predictable but its such a great film and i really enjoyed it.

22nd Sep 2012, 10:20 AM
Recently, I've watched Resident Evil 5 in theater with my friends group...This part is much better then the previous parts which seems too cool with awesome graphics & storyline..

Return of White Hunters 2 (http://www.youtube.com/movie/return-of-white-hunters-2?feature=mv_e_rel_b)

Wow, what has happened to this series? Unlike the three previous pleasant short comedies, this deviant of the quadrilogy dives into black magic and gets wtfbbq fast. Other movies know how to mix in light humor with horror and keep the funny pleasant. This is not one of those short films. Starting from the scene where a live, kidnapped baby is buried at midnight as a ritual, you would think it can't get worse, but it can and does. It can still be hilarious, but not in the harmless way as the previous films. This is dark funny and you need a generous bit of schadenfreude to enjoy this downright bizarre mess! In defense of it, it's probably because it had a different writer / director.

Starting from 10
-1 for midnight baby burial and other mischief never done before in this series
-1 for ruining all the main characters
-1 for ending the series in bizarre mayhem and unnecessary desperation
+1 for bad, guilty comedy ( it's hilarious, but it a dark way, unlike the previous films )
-1 for wtf all over the place
Final Rating: 7/10

Stuck - 3/10

It's basically about this chick who's a nurse and she runs over this guy on her way home from work one night and he gets stuck in the windshield. Instead of calling the police/taking the guy to hospital, she makes a bad life choice and decides to hide his still alive body in her garage because getting a promotion at work is way more important that helping an injured person. :|

The movie is dumb, but the acting is good for a laugh.

I think they stole that story from a real life incident of a young nurses aid named Chante Mallard who was drunk and high on X when she hit and ran someone who got stuck in the windshield. So she drove home and let him take 2 or 3 days to die in her garage. After it hit the news these stank inbred stormfront bigots from the south and midwest wrongly announced she was black because of her name.

Resident Evil: Retribution:

I really liked the plot, the action. And being in 3D just made it all the worth wild. It was a really good movie. Though the ending was very interesting. I do like who they got for Jill Valentine. And Ada Wong and Leon Kennedy. However, I wish Alice would just get out of the movies. If we all remember, I can't remember which game, but Alice had ONE appearance, and that was it. Alice is like the main character throughout the entire movie series -.-" Still a good movie. And one of my favourite singers from Japan, Mika Nakashima, kicked ass. And had a longer roll. I squealed. :D

But yes, a really good movie :D So, yeah 9/10 because the ending was frickin...Well, different, and didn't make a lot sense. >.> You have to see it, to understand, I mean because one of the people makes it out. ((And this is the same girl that played in Orphan as the deaf girl. An amazing actress))

Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie

Seriously, if you've ever enjoyed the show or that type of humor, your brain will fall out of your head. It's so awesome.

13th Oct 2012, 11:11 PM
Wide Sargasso Sea (the 1993 version)... 10/10, because holy shit, I never thought I could enjoy a modern era set film, ever.

14th Oct 2012, 2:25 AM
Dredd- 6/10, it was overall alright, but not worth the $11 I have to pay for it. Alright, I'm probably biased because of it, and it's my fault for going on weekends (when movie tickets are more expensive), but I'm still sore about that loss of money.

Loopers- 4.8/10. The plot is plain weird, and it's not executed properly. Threads are left hanging, and the ending sucks.

14th Oct 2012, 5:10 PM
Looper - Sci Fi Drama - 2012

A pretty good time travel story with some Damian/The Omen stuff thrown in but with a different twist. Good performances from Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt.

14th Oct 2012, 6:31 PM
Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf
10/10 (was there any doubt?)
I have to say, I am totally in love with old films as of late. Plus, this one in particular was pure genius.

21st Oct 2012, 12:12 PM
The Lucky One

I'm not really one for romantic drama, and this movie was oka-ay. A little cliche at times, and the ending was terribly thought out.

21st Oct 2012, 1:09 PM
I watched a move called Daybreakers. It was on SYFY yesterday. It was quite good. 8/10

21st Oct 2012, 1:30 PM
I watced Battleship Potemkin, a silent film from 1925, I liked it a lot but I thought it would be much better... 4/5

21st Oct 2012, 11:11 PM
The Member of the Wedding - Drama - 1952
What's disconcerting about this film is that it's about a girl, Frankie Addams, who's supposed to be 12 years old. But she's played by Julie Harris who was 26 years old at the time. Julie Harris starred in the Broadway production and on stage it worked. Plus, the role is too difficult for an actual teenager to perform on stage. But films have close ups which in this case, are disturbing.
Other than that I love the play and Ethel Waters' performance as Berenice.

Resurrect Dead: The Mystery of the Toynbee Tiles - Documentary - 2011
The mystery is ridiculous, but I enjoyed the telling of the story.

29th Oct 2012, 5:08 PM
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) 8/10
This film lives up to its title it was amazing and funny but it did get boring in some parts but that is to be expected, but i would defo say its a film to watch.

Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot (1992) 3/10
It was funny to begin with but then it just got boring but its an ok film to watch while you are doing something else.

Bait (2012) 7/10
It was a really good film once it got into it, with some plot twist and some good blood the acting was also better then i expected, the only let down was that the special effects on the sharks and other thing where not great. this was the first shark related film i have ever seen.

Elvis and Anabelle (2007) 6/10
I thought this film was going to be the normal romance film but i was very happily surprised, i think it could have been betterbut this film has stuck in my mind and i thought the idea behind the film was great to because nothing like it has been done before it made a nice change.

Fingersmith (2005) 8/10
this film was just plain amazing it was tugging on my heart string and made me confussed at the same time, the acting was down right amazing and the story line had so many twist and turns nothing like your normal romance movie. i was so surprised at how good it was, i have been putting off watching it forever and now i wished i watched it along time ago.

The Boy Who Cried Werewolf (2010) 6/10
the normal disney/nick movie, it was funny and the acting was ok. but its one of those films that when you watch it you have to wait along time intill you watch it again because it will bore you.

Intersect (2009) 5/10
I would have rated this film higher if the film was longer. it was only like 15mins long, i think they should remake this into a long film because the storyline was good and so was the acting and i think alot of young girls could relate.

The Ring (2002) 7/10
I have been putting off watching this film for years because i thought it would have been boring, but i was surprised at how good it was. threw out the movie i was surprised and was keeped guessing and i could watch this film like 100 times and never get bored of it.

The World Unseen (2007) 6/10
good movie but gets abit boring at times but it did shock me how people treat other people for being diffrent and just who they are. i had seen these two actresses act in another film and they are perfect together and have so much chemstry on film.

Good Luck Charlie, It's Christmas! (2011) 5/10
the normal nick/disney film was funny in parts but could not keep my intrest, would be good for little children to watch.

The Beautiful Ordinary (2007) 6/10
was surprised at how good this film was,the storyline to this film have not watch one like it before, i was laughting and some bits of it i could related to.its one of those films that you have to see.

Yes or No (2010) 6/10
an amazing, funny and touching story the only let down is that i had to read subtitles i think they should make a version of this in english because its such a cute films.

Lemonade Mouth (2011) 5/10
you normal nick/disney movie not much to say about it really but a good film to watch when you are bored.

Butter (2011) 5/10
a kinda funny/weird film, its a film that will make you laugh a root for the underdog. and the film title says it all really.

Out at the Wedding (2007) 5/10
very funny film but abit boring intill it gets to the funny parts.

Gia (1998) 7/10
all i can say is that i loved it and its a film to watch.

Sorority Wars (2009) 5/10
a avage good film but got boring in parts but still liked it.

Cyberbully (2011) 3/10
a good meaning behind the film but it was boring and i guessed everything that would happen before it did.

The Clique (2008) 5/10
a good film made me laugh and you see what a girl does just to try and be popular and in the end it all works out.kind of like a younger and not so good mean girls

Raise Your Voice (2004) 6/10
very good film had me laughing and cry,i would watch it again

29th Oct 2012, 6:25 PM
Carrie (1976) 8/10

I wouldn't classify it as a horror film, more like a tragedy/drama/thriller. In fact, I think the only reason it landed in the horror genre was because of the slaughterfest at the end when Carrie snaps. I found this film to be more sad than horrifying either way, and as a past bullying victim, I can relate to Carrie, so it won me over for liking the characters. I hated Chris and her psychopathic boyfriend (seriously, who kills a pig for a prank?!) and I slowly started to like Sue over the course of the movie (what with her redeeming actions and all). Carrie's religious nut of a mother had me cringing, and the boy who asks Carrie out is just so sweet. This film had it's creepy moments (especially towards the end) and you can't help but feel sorry for Carrie. Overall 8/10--great movie, although the beginning scene made me feel kinda awkward.

Extract (2009) 5/10
It was an ok movie,it get boring at time but there are funny bits in it which counters the boring parts.

Pitch Perfect (2012) 6/10
Its a great plot and the acting was good to.it was such a great movie and it made me smile and the singing was good two.the only down part was there had like 2 people in there group who did not talk or anything they where there to fill but it annoyed me.

Spirited Away (2001) 6/10
this movie is so sweet and i did not understand parts of it but it is so worth watching.

Hick (2011) 6/10
its a good coming of age story, but there are somethings i would change to make it better. but other then that worth watching

Okay let's see if I got this formatting right.

Movie Name - Lincoln (In Cinema)
Rating - 9/10
Comments - The first part of the movie was slow and on the verge of boring, and caused some people in the audience to fall asleep which is why I didn't rate a 10. But the middle to end of the movie really picked up and was exciting and enthralling and a joy to watch history unfold like that. Sally Field, and Tommy Lee Jones in any movie really make it worth seeing. Daniel Day Lewis is not as an acclaimed actor as Sally Field or Tommy Lee Jones, yet he really brought it in this movie. Great for history buffs (like me). Very entertaining!

500 Days of Summer
I enjoyed it, but i think thats because i like the actors. I felt like there was something missing, but i liked the general premises of the film, i would have liked more insight into why Summer changed her mind.

The Perks of Being A Wallflower
Loved it! The end was just, ergh amazing. I havn't read the book, but i defo will know. I like the characters and thought the actors done a good job, though it was very hard not to see Sam as Hermione. Only critism is i think it started a little slow, took a while for me to get into.

18th Dec 2012, 3:20 AM
It's predictable and cliche, but it's not really bad, had some funny moments. Cried twice.

Wreck It Ralph
I'm kind of blindsided by the sheer amount of nostalgia. But looking past that revealed a story so good that I cried. Like, a lot.

Hotel Transylvania
I kind of dislike when the Dracula turned to that "scary protective dad with sudden red lighting" it lacks dynamic and ruined the pacing of the scenes for me. Still very funny though. Barely cried.

Rise of the Guardians
Emotional roller coaster for me, same with Wreck it Ralph.

13th Jan 2013, 12:56 PM
Les Misérables (2012) - 6/10
The acting was spot on but the singer was not as good as it is on the stage,I think they should of picked people who has performed on Les Mis on the stage before so the singing would be better.other then the singing it was a good film and it made me want to cry.

Chloe (2009) - 4/10
I think the plot to the story was a good idea but it was very boring at some parts, half was through the film I got bored because nothing intresting really happend. but i must say Chloe is a psyco.

Young Adult (2011) - 5/10
good film and great plot, the only reason I watched it was because a friend said I would enjoy it, which i did i found it funny and the girl a weirdo but missunderstood at the same time.

The Breakfast Club (1985) - 6/10
This film is a classic and would say it is worth watching, the meaning behind the story and everything they go through can translate to anyone. its worth watching, i still can't believe i waited so long to watch it.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 (2012) - 6/10
It has a twist at the end which i kind of saw coming but if you have seen all the other films then its worth watching this one too but i do think they could of cut some stuff out which did not really relate to the story,it just felt like they where filling gaps.

Annie Claus is Coming to Town (2011) - 5/10
Just a avage film the storyline and acting was ok but its a good film to watch at xmas time to get you in the mood, but other then that not really worth watching.

Fly Away (2011) - 6/10
acting and storyline was amazing, this film tugged at my heartstring it made me happy and made me sad. This film made me understand so much and made me cry so much at the end and many happy times throughout the film. I would say this film is worth watching.

Struck by Lightning (2012) - 7/10
This film is about a guy who does not fit in and all he wants to do it write and make a difference, its a amazing film it made me cry at the end it was just so well written and acted it tugged at my heartstrings. i would say this film is worth watching.

Project X (2012) - 6/10
Its a good film. its about a boy who wants to be popular so he throws and really big party,if you like those kind of films then you should watch it. for me i liked it because of the way they shot as it felt like you was in the movie with them.

Chained (2012) - 6/10
this film was meant to be scary and everything but it was not and i liked the fact that you did not see the people being killed you just saw the childs reaction and the aftermath. this film is worth watching, it shows that no matter how you are brought up you dont have to become something that you dont want to be.

2012 (2009) - 5/10
avage film, i watched this the day was meant to end because i thought i dont believe it would happen so i might as well watch the film. i found it boring most of the time, but if you like end of the world films then this is for you

The Impossible (6/10)
I think it was a really well made film. . . it just lacked impact for me :/ Feel a bit heartless as the rest of the cinema was sobbing away and i just sat there like hmmm. Wasn't as sad as everyone made out, but a pretty emotional film that makes you think how short life is. It was based on a true story, but i can't help but feel it was dramatized a bit with the whole reunion thing.

Catfish The Movie (6/10)
Was pretty creepy and i think Neev and the people who produced it were pretty unethical in their treatmeant of the women and her family, she was clearly mentally unwell/ compulsive liar whatever and i just felt like they were exploiting them a bit, even though she was in the wrong to start with.

16th Jan 2013, 2:12 AM
Hot Fuzz (7/10)
A funny movie. I'm happy I ended up watching it.

17th Jan 2013, 5:25 AM
Wreck-It-Ralph: 7/10. The overall concept was alright, but the unnecessary romance between Calhoun and Felix just ruined everything

Wreck-It-Ralph: 7/10. The overall concept was alright, but the unnecessary romance between Calhoun and Felix just ruined everything

I was going to watch this film at the movies, when I was up the coast on holidays. I ended up seeing Pitch Perfect instead

Fun Size 2012 - 5/10
It is a cute/funny film, if you want something to make you laugh or you like Nick movies then you should watch this.

Ruby Sparks 2012 - 6/10
I was bored in some parts, but the storyline and the acting was great and there are little surprises in there. overall i found it cute and funny and worth watching.

Now and Then 1995 - 6/10
Great film i would love to have a friendship like theirs. its kind of a coming of age and finding out who you are kind of story, it made me laugh and made me cry. it is one of those films that is timeless.

Robot and Frank 2012 - 6/10
I thought this movie was going to be rubbish but i was very surprised, I don't want to say anything about the storyline because i will give away the what happens in the movie. all i have to say is that you should watch the movie because it is worth it.

The Ward 2010 - 6/10
Good horror movie it is kind of a mind frick, i did not see it coming when i usally do in other horror films.

Elsewhere 2009 - 5/10
the storyline was good but kind of boring, they needed to have more twists and nothing really happen till near the end.

Puccini for Beginners 2006 - 6/10
this movie is a twist on romance movies and it shows how complicated love is and nothing is simple.it was very funny and it did not end like normal romance movies which i like.

Triple Dog 2010 - 5/10
this movie was good and had abit of a twist, it also shows how different types of people can end up being better friends then people who are the same as you.

Howl's Moving Castle 2004 - 4/10
i did not see the end of this movie, it was good but it kind of went on for to long.

My Neighbour Totoro 1988 - 7/10

Camp 2003 - 5/10
i dont really know what to say about this movie, but it was good something just did not click with it.

Red Doors 2005 - 6/10
a story about love and being true to yourself.it also shows that growing up and being different is not a bad thing

9th Feb 2013, 4:33 PM
The Hobbit
I loved every minute of it!
The only reason I gave it 9/10 is because that, when we got to see it at the theatre, the film started stopping and starting randomly at the end. Viewing pleasure reduced. But that's the theatre's fault anyways.

10th Feb 2013, 5:55 PM
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- 7/10 I watched it and loved it. I read the books and watched it again. I wasn't worth watching the 2nd time because it was so bad compared to the books.

[Fox and the Hound] - [Old] - [Family]

[Get Him to the Greek]
[Rating: 5]
I didn't really understand the movie, and I didn't like it. The only reason I watched it was because TJ Hooker was on after it and I wanted to watch that.

it is a good film about a boy trying to over come a stutter and finding himself.

Would You Rather 2012 - 5/10
it is a horror but there is not much blood in it,it could have been better if more things went on. it is very much like the game would you rather but with a big twist

John Dies at the End (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ot7kFjUcrs)
I didn't read the book but familiar with the style of one of the writers, David Wong. Must have been very difficult to adapt the ideas to movie.

18th Feb 2013, 6:21 PM
The Losers (2010) - 6/10
It turned out to be better and had a lot of humor in it, but I must say it was more aimed towards guys.

Wreck-It Ralph (2012) - 6/10
A very cute movie and has a great storyline, It also teaches the children and people watching the film something.

Teen Spirit (2011) 5/10
This is one of those movies you watch when you are bored but it was funny.

Up in the Air (2009) 5/10
This movie went on longer then it needed to be and it could have ended with a great ending but they seem to have dragged it out for no reason. The storyline was good and so was the acting but the ending really let it down.

4th Mar 2013, 3:50 PM
Rise of the Guardians (2012) - 6/10
This is such a cute and funny film, it is worth watching and has a great story to it.

Closet (2012) - 1/10
This film was so bad, the acting was terriable and the storyline was worse.

10 Years (2011) - 4/10
I thought it was a good film, not seem a film like it before but i keeped figuring out what was going to happen so kind of predictable.

Kill for Me (2013) - 4/10
Good film kinda slightly twisted, it is worth watching if you are into those kind of films. but some things in the film did not fit.

4th Mar 2013, 6:27 PM
The last movie I watched was Grave Encounters 2. I won't spoil anything but I will say it wasn't that great in my opinion. One part actually scared me but the rest was just .... well... found footage is overdone.

Before that a recent movie I watched is Vegas Vacation. Love it and probably one of few movies I'll watch more than once. Hahahaha! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oa1YsrQoCf0

Chinese Hercules

This cheap bad awesome flick has absolutely nothing to do with Hercules. The "hercules" isn't even the protagonist, but instead is this guy:
Like other martial arts flicks, the story is there to make the sense it does just so people can get beat up. The problem with the story that I see has two separate parts:
1. Where is the police? It seems anyone can take over a ship port for illegal business as long as they have goons, because that is all that is needed. No papers to sign.
2. What the characters do in the story, their actions that they arrive at to the situation, are all wrong.

I have to explain number 2 in a way that won't spoil the story and hilarity. Let's say that a cop's actions led to a shootout, and unfortunately a child is caught in the crossfire and killed. He feels guilty, but solves his guilt by sending his own child to adoption. Bingo. Wrong solution. That's the kind of logic you will witness in Chinese Hercules.

A martial arts man likes a woman. I mean he 'like' likes her. Unfortunately, the drunken brother attacks him and is killed. Guilt ridden, he runs to the docks and becomes the best dock unloader there. The dock owner is offered gold to open his port to bad stuff, and it is demanded that he fire all the workers. Then everyone fights.

Rating: 6 hilarious bananas out of 10

Screaming Ninja

There IS a ninja, but he or she appears only twice briefly to shoot an arrow, and is never explained. The setting is in an undeclared Asian city where Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, and maybe other Asians live and barely tolerate each other. So, Chinese man meets a Chinese woman who pretends to be Japanese so that she can commit thievery. The entire first half is just these two going to different parts of the city looking for reasons to fight or pickpocket. At this point I was so hopelessly lost with the story that I gave up on it and my Effexor kicked in and I got giddy.

Second half is about debt between schools of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean dojos and their bosses. More reason to fight, and again there are absolutely no police to be seen anywhere, just thugs and bullies ready to fight over the principle of whatever. There is a LOT of fighting at different locations ( sumo ring, on the shores, at a noodle stand, etc. ) and it does lend some variety. The final battle is a martial arts duel between the Chinese man and some other guy who killed his family.

Their fight spans over from the urban area, onto a train which takes them somewhere else, onto cliffs, down to a waterfall. Very long fight sequence. As soon as the bad guy is killed, end of flick. What does this have to do with a ninja? Unlike Chinese Hercules, Screaming ninja is mostly ordinary. A much worse sin than being badfunny.

Upside Down 8/10

A sci-fi/fantasy romance where two worlds exist with different gravities. Such a beautiful film, visually it is gorgeous. Storyline a bit predictable but overall a great film.

Step Up 4: Miami Heat (2012) - 6/10
Great dancing but storyline just lacked something, the first couple of films where better storylines but this was still good.

50/50 (2011) - 6/10
About a guy who was cancer and his life, it has funny bit and sad bit. one mintue I was crying the next I was laughing, I must say its a great film and a must watch.

American Beauty (1999) - 4/10
I only watched this because my friend loves it and I wanted to see what the fuss it about. I must say it is the weirdest and creepest film I have seen, I was good but it went on for way to long and had bits in it that could of been cut out.

Nina's Heavenly Delights (2006) - 6/10
A cute and funny story about true love and what it really takes to me yourself.

Bridge to Terabithia (2007) - 6/10
Anazing film, great storyline and great acting. I had such a big grin on my face through this it shows how being yourself is how you find true friends and have the time of your life.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) - 8/10
I was not expexting this to be as good as it was but I would watch this film over and over again,it was just amazing.

Getting Even with Dad (1994) - 4/10
It is one of those classic films i watched growing up and I still love it now, its just amazing.

Hostel: Part II (2007) - 5/10
Kind of predictable for me because I love horrors, but I like the idea of the film and I never saw the first one so i had no idea what it was about.

The hobbit part 1or an unexpected journey

This maybe beacuase I have been watching game of thrones to much or which is most likely reason it is like harry potter and the deathly hallows part 1 it's all bulid up for the second one but this is in three parts why? If you cut out the travelling and the some of the Shire scenes you could probably get it down to two parts. I enjoyed watching it for most part, I still do not like Bildo baggins, I like dwarves a little more in a fantasy sense or it is beacuase of game of thrones as I like the dwarf in that series and Thranduil is just as hot as I remeber.

I can't wait to see The Hobbit! Hard to believe you rated it so low....I mean, the story is mostly description, so I wouldn't expect a lot, action-wise, anyway.

The Croods - 8/10 Very enjoyable! And very funny! Some touching moments but not overdone and what an amazing world!

*Updated* I just saw the movie again. The term "heart warming" best describes it. I think many of the critics missed what the central theme of this story is: The father/daughter relationship with the underlying message of how to let go and take risks. They pulled off teenage moods perfectly in daughter Eep as well as a dad's confusion with his daughter's growing independence and how to still stay relevant when that happens. I love this movie!

I may have given it a higher rating if it was'nt for the fact the person I was watching it with was making making me feel nevrous but I did enjoy the hobbit and if I reposted by rating in a few days it maybe higher. Also I have recently watched the entrie second series of game of thrones and I am not sure whether giving a rating for one part is a good idea as I want do it as a hole and here's the thing I do not think it's a good as LOTR in some areas like villains but Gollum is as epic as ever. There is only one dwarves I liked and that was Thorin.

Maybe I should write a review of it.

I am not going to see the croods as its not my type of film.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower - 9/10 Doesn't exactly do the book justice (but what movie does?), but a fantastic movie non the less. Inspiring, amazing, and I'd watch it again, any time.

Jurassic Park in Imax 3D - 10/10
Soooo good. Solid acting, script, directing, and the proper mix of animatronics & computer-generated imagery still makes this film seem ahead of its time. Add to that the immersive effect of quality 3D technology and you've got yourself a winner. Well worth the extra cash to see it in Imax! That first T-Rex scene is EPIC! If you liked the film before, this re-release will only bolster your love of the film. If it's still in theatres, I truly recommend revisiting Isla Nublar!

Lady Death (a rare anime film)

5.5/10 I like anime and the story was okay though I wish that the villain was more interesting at times and the villain was cool.

20th May 2013, 11:28 PM
Star Trek Into Darkness - 7/10 = Exciting because they have the same wonderful cast, there are neat effects, and it's Star Trek! Points off for not enough story and too much action. They did a better job with the first one and totally had my attention. This time, I spaced in the middle of the film. Like I said, too much action. After repeated scenes of *kewr!* *shhooom shooom shoom* *Bawang!* etc....I just lose it and the story loses it for me.

Killing Them Softly (2012) - Drama - 6/10

This is a strange film and not much happens. Some fools rob a mob run card game and then a hit man kills them. It takes place during the 2008 election and when the characters are transacting business in bars, Barack Obama is on tv in the background blathering away. At the end Brad Pitt delivers a rant about the USA and Thomas Jefferson ('a rich white snob who's sick of paying taxes to the Brits. So, yeah, he writes some lovely words and aroused the rabble and they went and died for those words while he sat back and drank his wine and fucked his slave girl.') An odd movie.

22nd May 2013, 6:35 AM

23rd May 2013, 7:52 PM

The Impossible (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1649419/) with Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts

The movie was based on a true story of the 2004 tsumani about one family's survival in Thailand.
It was extremely intense & well acted though quite difficult to watch at times.

I thought it was a very powerful, well done movie & would give it two thumbs up.

26th May 2013, 3:40 AM
Last three movies I watched:

Laura (1944) Gene Tierney, Clifton Webb, and Dana Andrews - 10/10

Full Metal Jacket (1987) Mathew Modine, Vincent D'Onfrio, and Adam Baldwin - 9/10

Serenity (2005) Nathan Fillion, Summer Glau, and Gina Torres - 10/10

It's expected that I'd score them highly; I wouldn't have bought the DVDs if I didn't f****** LOVE these movies.

The Blue Lagoon (1980) - 8/10

Wee bit random with the different animal shots and excessive nude swimming but overall a great movie.

26th May 2013, 1:30 PM
Shadow of the Vampire(2000) - 8/10

I enjoyed this film - funny, creepy and well done in general. It's about (fictionally) the filming of Nosferatu.

"F.W. Murnau: Why him, you monster? Why not the... script girl?
Max Schreck: Oh. The script girl. I'll eat her later."

Saw Snitch the other day. Good film. Intense, emotional, suspenseful. And it has Jon Bernthal in it, he plays an ex con, but a reformed one. I'm looking forward to seeing his new tv show LA Noir on TNT. The Rock kicked ass as usual, just on a more subdued level.

I am speechless, right after watching It, The movie really touched me beyond words

9th Jun 2013, 8:13 PM
Identity Thief (2013) - 5/10
Was a good story-line but not as funny as I thought it would be and it went on for to long.

Gangster Squad (2013) - 3/10
Went on forever the film did not need to be that long and it was very boring.

Rio (2011) - 5/10
Was a funny sweet and cute film.

Grown Ups (2010) - 5/10
Was a funny film and I can't wait to see the next one.

armageddon - 10/10

Massively underrated. Amazing story, amazing cast, awesome thrill factor, sad ending.

Whats not to love? It should of been rated higher. Critics of the 90`s are fools.

Oz the Great and Powerful: 5/10 - It was all right. It had some funny moments, but overall I probably won't watch it again, but it was worth seeing at least once.

Snitch: 7/10 - Dwayne Johnson should definitely stick to acting. The wrestling thing is just odd, but his movie acting is great. That and Shane (Jon Bernthal) was in it from The Walking Dead. It was a good movie.

Escape from Planet Earth: 7/10 - It had more humorous moments that I thought it would and it was a pleasant surprise.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters: 9/10 - I loved this movie. The makeup was fantastic and the storyline kept me involved. It reminded me of The Brother's Grimm, which I also took to.

15th Jun 2013, 9:22 PM
V for Vendetta: 9/10. It's been awhile since I've seen the movie, but after a rewatch it still makes an impact on me. "People shouldn't be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people."

16th Jun 2013, 3:13 AM
The last movie I watched was The Hot Chick: 9/10- Its such a funny movie, awesome cast, heaps of funny moments, Rachel McAdams, Anna Faris and Rob Schneider are in it and they portray their roles extremely well.

Mazes and Monsters

This is a 90 minute movie that was made in the 90's to serve as a warning against the true satanic evils of Dungeons and Dragons. It's about this guy who meets a girl who plays Mazes and Monsters and this other guy who calls him Frileg at the end of the movie. And that guy is role playing a holy man and his actor is Tom Hanks before he was famous. I think he might be ashamed of being in this movie.

Thumbs up and thumbs down at the same time.

Today I got the new Oz The Great And Powerful movie on DVD. I saw it in the theater. I will say that it is a much better movie when you aren't watching it in a theater that smells like ass.

edit: Shoosh, I remember that movie. It was like a train wreck, where you didn't want to watch but couldn't look away.

I know what I'll be watching tonight. It sounds hilariously bad (at least from reading snid-bits of the plot online/your summary).

Edit/Update: Yeah... it's pretty terribad.

Literally JUST got done watching Identity Thief. Overall, I would say it's good (6/10). It has a little bit of a lesson while staying light. It has some decent action parts too. It made me laugh, and in general I would say it is worth watching but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Unless you're really into the type of humor that's kind of icky and makes you feel uncomfortable...

Without Men (2011) - 4/10
It started off good but as the movie went on it got worse, it is not worth watching and I kind of wish never watched it.

Cosa Bella (2006) - 2/10
Was a bad movie, it did not make sense and it had a rubbish storyline.

Warm Bodies (2013) - 7/10
Was a cute, good and funny movie. It was hyped up so I thought it was better but other all it was still a good movie but not a movie I would watch again.

My review on Epic:

I only saw this movie because the air-conditioning in my apartment wasn’t working and it was too hot. I hated it; it felt too generic, especially the plot (a teenage girl [who's an idiot] gets trapped in a world she thought wasn’t real. I thought this only existed in crappy fanfiction but apparently I was wrong). This movie lacked, well, “epicness” (WOW, NICE TITLE FILMMAKERS, IT *REALLY* FIT WELL WITH THIS DAMN MOVIE); characterization (the snail and the slug appear to be hilarious and a big part of the movie as you see in the trailer when they’re not); interest (kids seem to like it though); plot (as I said before); and overall, the key to making a great film. I have to agree with the critics; it really did suck. I’d give it a 1.5 out of 10 to be honest with you :/

20th Jun 2013, 12:44 PM
Don't remember the movie I watched few days ago

25th Jun 2013, 10:19 AM
@ Mordecai and Rigby - I did hear mixed reviews of Epic which seems a shame since it looked so cute from the previews. Of course, it is a kid's film and it's hard to listen to critics who expect kid's films to be something more or something different from what they are intended to be.

Kick-Ass (2010) - 6/10
It was better then i thought it would be, it was funny and had a great story-line.

The Host (2013) - 3/10
I got told that this was a great movie and I was very disappointed, it turned out to be very boring; it was just a love story with a twist and the twist was not even that exciting. It just dragged on there was no need for it to be so long.

Jack The Giant Slayer (2013) - 4/10
It was an ok movie but went on for to long, it was not very exciting very plain movie.

Rapture-Palooza (2013) - 8/10
It was such a great movie, it was so funny and unlike any movie I have seen before. I would reccomand watching because it is so worth it

Mud 10/10

Now you see me 6/10

Magic And Pancakes
30th Jun 2013, 4:48 AM
I watched Seven (or Se7ven, if you prefer) for the first time in years. It was still as good as I remembered it. It's dark, gritty, disturbing and doesn't have over-the-top gore. It's everything a thriller should be. Kevin Spacey's performance alone warrants a 10/10 rating from me.

30th Jun 2013, 6:58 AM
World War Z - 2013 - Zombies - 6/10
I realized long ago I'm probably not going to be seeing a good movie at the local multiplex. So with that knowledge as the starting point, World War Z was a not unenjoyable summer film. You might as well check the expectation that any of it will actually make sense at the door. I just wish they hadn't made the zombies so over the top because then they stop being scary and start being comical. But if nothing else, you'll have a good laugh and that's worth something, I guess.

Se7en deserves a 7 out of 10. It has great actors whose performances are entertaining to watch. But the plot is somewhat of a dud with low payoff to the suspense. It's just good enough to somewhat buy into but not fantastic. The killer's plan isn't really as awesome as he thinks it is, and I don't see how society will be deeply baffled and soil itself over the damage his actions deal to mankind, as in hardly any. And how in the hell does someone arrange beforehand for UPS to deliver something to the middle of nowhere? Several times the movie tries too hard. Does Se7en reach up there with, say, Silence of the Lambs? No.

Project X 10/10 5/5 Both Thumbs up (It reminds me of parties I've been with friend's.)

30th Jun 2013, 3:24 PM
Road Trip (2000) - 4/10
This film had some funny moments but it was more aimed towards men because their was loads of nudes and all about intercourse.

A Marine Story (2010) - 7/10
Very touching story and brings to light so many things.

Spring Breakers (2012) - 2/10
There was so much hype about the movie and I dont see why because it was rubbish. This film was more aimed towards men and i wish they made it for everyone because then it would have been better.

Never Let Me Go (2010) - 8/10
I love this film it was so good, it nearly made me cry and it had a great message.

8th Jul 2013, 10:29 AM
Mass effect: Paragon lost 5/10 love the game series but this film is just okay.

8th Jul 2013, 2:41 PM
The Cabin in the Woods - 4/10 I liked the Whedon influence and it would have rocked if it had been all his. Too much gore in this to enjoy the theme.

The Avengers - 9.8/10 I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did. Most of the time, I'm somewhat turned off by too much adventure in a film, but this was well done and fun throughout. Well done, Joss!

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog - 9.8/10 As a huge fan of Once More With Feeling, I had to check this out. It delivered. It's a short sweet gem of a story told in enjoyable songs. Not sure if I'd sing along with it...well, maybe. I love seeing the actor who played the bad guy in yet another variation of character. I love that Joss uses so many of the same performers again and again.

Looking forward to seeing Dreamwork's latest film, Turbo in a little more than a week. I'm not overly interested in the Indy 500, but the characters shown in the previews look fun and I think it will be cute.

8th Jul 2013, 4:26 PM
^^ #1 and #3 up there are some of my favorite movies-- I freakin love the third act of Cabin in the Woods. (tbh, I tend to tune out the first two except for important plot points) I know it's a parody of cheesy horror movies, but it's still kinda meh. I'd love to see it from the Japanese schoolgirl's perspective though (only shown for a minute defeating their ghosty boo with song on a monitor)

I saw Sympathy for Lady Vengeance by Park Chan-wook. I am in love with this man's directing style- "I'm a Cyborg but that's Okay" is probably the only romance movie I not only like BUT FUCKING LOVE. I'm kinda glad I understand English, (and can see that the "Australian" girl has a very thick Korean/American accent) because it broke the tension once or twice. This movie is amazing, but it's really hard to watch at times, this coming from someone who has no problems with simulated blood, gore, guro, or anything like that. I had to pause it to take a breath when they found and started watching the videos under the desk.

fucking.. a lot out of 10. It's really amazing but. fuck.

The Lone Ranger: 7,5/10

There's been some bad critics towards this movie, but I simply LOVED it! I think it was both exciting and a great action movie. It was a very typical adventure movie in some ways, but I like that :) Especially when it comes to Disney! There's simply a way that every Disney movie should be built:)

That was one of the best parts! You're right - it would be fun to see it from their perspective. That part especially seemed Whedonesque. I also liked the ending where the characters just rebel against what the audience expects of them. Well played, Joss!

Despicable Me 2 -- Wasn't as good as the first but still worth the watch :) 4/5

13th Jul 2013, 6:18 PM
A Serbian Film (2010) - 1/10
It was not as good as it was meant to be, it was very boring. The idea of the film was good but the way they approached it was not. A twisted film that was not that twisted.

Excision (2012) - 7/10
I love this film it was twisted and have very fresh idea's never seen a horror movie like it before.

Basket Case (1982) - 6/10
First watched this when I was 4 years old and love it,so decided to watch it again now and still loved it.

Little Shop of Horrors (1986) - 5/10
Watch it for the first time in a whole and it was good and had some good songs. The woman's voice and a couple of other things let this film down but i still enjoyed it.

13th Jul 2013, 6:21 PM
Jurassic park, hmm it's gory and pretty scary but I love it, then again it's been on so much i'm starting to get bored of it so I guess 8/10.

13th Jul 2013, 10:12 PM
Identity Thief (2013) - 2/5
It wasn't as funny as I thought it would be.

@Heaven Sent: I saw A Serbian Film awhile back. Was it as twisted and fucked up as everyone claims? Not really. Then again, I have a habit of watching movies like that so I'm probably desensitized. For instance, I enjoyed The Human Centipede movies. Did you see the Uncut version?

21st Jul 2013, 5:11 AM
Turbo - 7/10 - Turbo was beautifully animated, has some good characterizations and funny lines, and it's very clear that the people who made it had fun with it. Points lowered because it is clearly a child's movie. There is nothing wrong with that, of course, it just means that it was not as entertaining to an adult as many other films have been. Nor is there any deeper or more emotional theme as there was in The Croods. Just the same, it was fun and cute. I'd take kids to see it if I had little kids at home. There were some pretty amazing scenes from the snails' viewpoint, too.

Much Ado About Nothing (Whedon Version) 13/10 This just rocked. It was enjoyable on so many levels. The performers read Shakespeare's lines perfectly, bringing it beautifully and humorously to life. It was immediate! I loved the camera angles, the artsy shots, the flow of the film, the music, the costumes, and the use of Joss's home as the set. I loved seeing so many familiar performers from other Whedon works. Seriously, it rocked.

@DeLoure -- I watches A Serbian Film with my friends and they where all freaked out and I was just sitting there. No it was not as twisted as everyone claimed,i did not find it twisted because I have been watching horror and that kind of films since I was 4 years old.Yeah I saw The Human Centipede and number 2 and I laughed at some of the bits in number 1 and 2.yeah I saw the uncut version.

D.E.B.S. (2004) - 7/10
I love this movie has to be one of my top 10's.Love the action and comdy

23rd Jul 2013, 3:20 AM
The Conjuring - 2013 - Horror/Scary - 8/10
It has a better than usual cast for a horror movie - Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor. But I guess work must be scarce.
It scared the bejesus out of me.

25th Jul 2013, 12:21 AM
Slumdog Millionaire - 10/10

I went in not knowing exactly what it was about. All I remember seeing of it when it came out was the credits dance scene and wrote it off as another Indian musical type movie (given the age of the main characters, I was expecting Indian High School Musical.) Man, was I wrong? I can't believe I avoided it all this time. <3

25th Jul 2013, 4:55 AM
Byzantium - 2012
Good vampire story.

5th Aug 2013, 4:30 PM
The First Time (2012) - 5/10
Such a cute story, it made me smile.

Oz the Great and Powerful (2013) -7/10
I love it! the acting and the story was amazing,it was Mila Kunis in it with is a plus.

The Crazies (2010) - 2/10
It was really boring and not much happend,I would have given it a 0 but it had one good scene. When I was watching it i was just waiting for it to end.

Scary MoVie (2013) - 1/10
I loved all the other ones but this one was just plain rubbish,I felt like i wasted my time watching it.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close (2011) - 6/10
This is such a good film and I nearly cried,it had a great meaning behind it.I would have scored it higher but it went on for to long.

6th Aug 2013, 3:40 AM
Blackfish -2013 - Documentary - 9/10

About Seaworld and the captive orcas. Human beings are shit.

Crystal Fairy and the Magic Cactus - 2013 - 8/10
I thought it was very good - 5 people searching for some San Pedro cactus and an altered state. Very savvy about human nature Great performances by Michael Cera and Gaby Hoffmann.

Beetlejuice (1988) - 4/10
Look Who's Talking Now (1993) - 4/10

Stand By Me (1986) - 4/10
Grown Ups 2 (2013) - 6/10
Despicable Me 2 (2013) - 6/10
Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters (2013) - 6/10

21st Aug 2013, 8:10 AM
State of Emergency: 2/10

Awful zombie movie, main protagonist is an idiot as well as the supporting cast of characters that by all means should have died in the first thirty minutes of the movie. The zombies were OK, different from the standard bumbling brood.

Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters: 7/10

It was better than I expected. The weaponry was awesome and the tactics used reminded me a bit of Supernatural tv show.

Come out and Play: 6/10

It sounded interesting and it eventually became entertaining. Its a remake, the original is better and the main protagonists in it are more believable than the latest remake.

22nd Aug 2013, 7:03 PM
Olympus Has Fallen - 7-8/10

With relatively good acting, high-intensity action, and a scary plot line, I'd comfortably give this movie a 7 or 8 out of ten. It was a little gory for my taste, but don't hold that against it. One downfall to this movie is that the shift from peace to conflict is pretty quick. Writers, actors and the director rely on the human ability to quickly reach in and form a connection with the current family occupying the white house, giving insufficient time to really form a *bond* with those characters. If someone dies, you almost feel like shrugging it off and saying "meh" for them. Other than it's a pretty good movie.

26th Aug 2013, 1:47 PM
Elysium - SciFi whatever - 2013 - 6/10
I'm giving it a 6 because I'm disappointed. It got good reviews, I think, and I was looking forward to it. And then it was like Die Hard meets Children of Men - maybe that's how they pitched it.

The Silence of the Lambs was amazing! I can't believe you rated that movie so low! What didn't you like about it? I'm not a fan of horror, but I do love suspense. I suspect that the slew of profiling type movies and tv shows that we have now are because of Silence of the Lambs. I found it so amazing that I've watched it three times and struggled through the book in French. Not only is the story a page-turner, but it was well acted and produced. I would give it a 9/10.

Well it was really boring, the story was so predictable and the blood and everything was so fake.I had to force myself to sit all the way through it because its a classic I wanted to watch it but it was not good at all,the story was just shoved in your face.I love horror, the first horror film I watched was when I was 4.

There is a fantasy LARP Xanodria that was started by a bunch of college kids.. Not kids any more.. That saw the movie and said.. 'we can do better than that'...

How do I know about this small group.. Because my wife and I used to go there.... Yes, I am an old geek.. and if there was a LARP running near where I live now. We would be going today... :luff:

Just watched "The Conjuring."

I enjoyed it a lot. It wasn't as scary as people made it out to be but it was very well done.
I still can't figure out why it was rated R though.

Thor: Dark world 8/10 I love Malkeith, he should of won and the ending was a little confusing to understand.
