View Full Version : Bizarre lighting on rug recolors

I've just started making some overlays for hay-strewn floors, but when I checked my progress in-game, some.. issues appeared :/


I'm using the one-tile floor overlay mesh by Phaenoh (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=362815). I've never noticed any issues with the mesh before, but for some reason the lighting is all kinds of messed up with my textures. The darkest pieces are how they appear plopped on the ground straight from the catalog, but the lightest ones are how I actually intended my texture to look, and those pieces have been rotated.

This is inside, with no lights or windows, and there is still a noticeable difference between tiles (apart from the seams, which I don't want to fix until I know the lighting is fixed :P):

With equally spaced light fixtures:

No lights, and 4 windows equidistant from the rug:

And no lights with fully windowed walls:

I'm hesitant to continue working on these if the mesh is at fault, but the only other rug I know of is Echo's, and I don't think that would work with what I'm trying to do here. The only possibilities I can think of are that the mesh is sinking into the ground, which I thought was only an issue with Maxis rugs, or that something about the material definition is off, but I'm very inexperienced with SimPE and have no clue how I'd go about fixing that.

I have Gunmod's Radiance and Hat's World Lit by Fire, but I would hope that the recolors would work with any combination of lighting mods. I'm at something of a loss, since I've never done more than a simple recolor before this. Any advice?
