All is in the title ^^ : how can I make recolourable an object ?

try this tutorial - it is a bit old

This is not what I want to do. I created an object and I would like to make it recolourable.

Try this one:

This is not exactly what I need. I succeed in doing my object recolourable with Workshop but it makes crash the game.

Are you trying to add the recolour to the object instead of a separate recolour file? If game is crashing and you have added to the GMND block check that you have correctly enabled and numbered your additions to the block.

In fact I added a MMAT file, I change the content to fix the integrity, I modify some things in the GMND like said in the tutorial too. But I guess that it's missing something. The tutorial doesn't say how to create a MMAT functionable.

In MMAT/defaultMaterial : if the value is 'false' try to turn it to 'true'

The value is already turned true. This is what i made :

Can you tell me what was the object you have cloned?

The China Vase

I tried to clone it and everything was okay for me .
Can you post your package so I will take a look on it as soon as possible?

No prob, thanks again for your help :)

Whew, I fixed your package! I warmly suggest not to change the Maxis name in GMDC when importing a new mesh, it would cause problems.
I have changed all the different parts of the package with the name given by Maxis and now it works.
I join the fixed packages.

Thanks ! So, if I understood, the prob was that I renamed the part "sculpturechinavase_design" by "pot".
So, I guess that to make an object recolourable is impossible if this object is not a clone of an object recolourable.

Not impossible but very difficult!
Just one thing : when you create a new object, don't change anything in MMAT (automatically updated in SimPE), this make crash your game! You just need to change the values for a cloned MMAT when you add a new subset in GMDC.

OK. Even if it's very difficult, do you know if a tutorial about that exist ?
16th Dec 2008, 9:55 AM
Sorry, but I'm not sure you can find one!
You can do some tests by yourself.

OK. Anyway, thank you for your help again :)
